Did anyone give it a listen? What did he have to say about the primus shows?

He talked about what it was like to learn Primus songs. They asked him twelve songs he wanted to play. He learned sixteen songs. The ones he thought would be difficult were not as difficult as the ones he thought would be easier to learn. You can skip towards the end, about 1:50 - 2:07. That is the good stuff. He plays DMV and Harold on the Rocks.

Wow.... Tool just released their new album at the end of the Apple iPhone launch event.
It's free to all iTunes Store members.
Didn't see that coming...

The album may be free but the Quadphones will set you back at least $150.

I didn't realize I started both sentences with "So I guess..." The New Yorker will never hire me now.

Were you skipping the "bad news?" Haha. I mean, it's no shocker, but he explicitly mentioned that The Loft has been "gutted" and is being worked on, and as such, "Tool has been on a bit of a hiatus."
Happy griping, everyone. Remember: it's only a rock album. It's only a rock album...

I wonder if they're converting the Loft into a full-blown, self-sufficient studio. Hard to imagine why they'd want to go through the trouble and sink that kind of money in, otherwise.

Hahaha, yes Joeypants, I was skipping that part. I hope they post pics of magic happening once the renovation is complete.

I just thought about something the other day:
The new album is going to have a monumental impact on the TOOL online community. That's not hyperbole: TOOL fans are that fucking fanatic, that we're all going to come together and just be blissing out for weeks, maybe months, on end. It's going to absolutely rock this forum, and I imagine we'll see shockwaves right around the internet in the weirdest of places.
It's going to be fantastic, even if the album is not particularly great. All the community-building, the bonding, the bullshit - everything will finally have a meaning and purpose. We'll put aside any differences, large and small, just so we can metaphorically hug each other. We'll make new friends, bump into old acquaintances. Shit will be really different for quite a while.
You could absolutely not expect that with any other band.
Really think about it. I can't see it happening any other way.

That didn't happen when 10,000 days arrived, I remember on TDN some douche, paraflux I think it was, rushing to make a massive essay about the albums 'meaning' just because he'd been picking up teenage girls from that site and he was in his 30's.
Wait, that's genius.
Anyway I digress, fan bois loved it, a lot of other long term fans were ambivalent. The funny thing about that album is it brought in a lot of noobs who to this day declare it their favorite album.

I can't say I've ever heard anyone claim 10k Days as their favorite.

This has to be the ugliest Tool tattoo i've ever seen. Ironically taken from Alex Grey's daily "tattoo of the day!" on twitter.
