I love how "development Hell" works for whoever is using the term: A proper "SANDMAN" or "AMERICAN GODS" series has been in such a Hell for years, yet something that has absolutely no right being there to begin with can be re-birthed at any point.

This is what happens when you bring massive profits into an area that should be all about creating cool shit using your fucking imagination.

The original Ghostbusters is such a perfect film. It should've always been left at that. Honestly though, if you're absolutely going to fuck with it again and milk that cow, I'm all for an all-female group. Who cares at this point? And honestly, that might be better than whatever they were going to do before.

Why do people think movies being re-made will somehow hurt the original, but don't think the same of cover songs?

Example: the vast majority of people here HATED Puscifer's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.

Yet, I didn't see a single person write, "now the original is ruined". What's the difference?

If anything, it makes the original better. Like, look how shit and off-the-mark the remake was compared to the original. How fucking special was it to begin with.

Remakes don't "ruin" anything: They just leave a bad taste in people's mouths. And there's also something very creepy about watching something try to ape something else. Remember that white kid who tried to act not-white at school, just so that people thought he was cool? Everyone knew that that wasn't who he really was, so it was fucking disturbing watching him do his gang signs and shit.

Same goes with remakes.

The only thing that irks me about remakes is the reality that now I'll have to endure people going "ohhhhhhh man, have you seen Let Me In?! (Insert hated remake of choice there) That's like the best vampire movie ever duuuuuuude!" and then they REFUSE to watch the original, or at least, the original is now tainted for them. Also, this is THE MOST MINUSCULE COMPLAINT EVER. It's not a big deal.

The original of whatever is always there, just how you found it. The endless stream of shitty remakes (that's a very important distinction) is only truly annoying for what it says overall about the state of creativity and funding in the film industry.

But never forget how many "classics"/great films we would be deprived of were it not for the concept of a "remake": The Thing, Scarface, The Departed, The Birdcage (yeah, that's right), Cape Fear (yeah, that's right), Ocean's Eleven, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Fly, Casino Royale (up for debate I guess but definitely better than the original), and a lot of those Sergio Leone westerns if you want to get really granular. And lots more.

going to see Guardians Of The Galaxy today. 3D style, the right way to watch Marvel movies. very excited, can't wait.

visually fucking brilliant movie. the color scheme's alone were amazing. it was very funny as well, have to thank my girlfriend for putting me onto Pratt in Parks. he's a funny dude. it's nice to see Batista's acting got a little bit better as the movie went along. I mean, how gorgeous is Zoe Saldana? she sells the action as well. Groot and Rocket could pull off their own spin off if Gunn is at the helm. plus you add in John C. Reilly, Glen Close, Benicio Del Toro and Michael Rooker to up the acting anti. the villains were imposing, Thanos (my most favorite comic book villain across Marvel/DC) was in it a lot more than I had expected. the Infinity Stones history lesson was so fucking geek-tastic.

this has to be watched in 3D, I mean there's no way around it. this was more fun than the Avengers, which I didn't think was possible. the Avengers 2 better step it's game up or James Gunn will be directing the 3rd installment. the speakers shook the reclining seats we were all in, maybe because we had the last row? fucking movie sold out on a Sunday night, how often does that happen in the 3rd week?

NO ONE got up and left before the credits ended. people are finally starting to catch on after 7 years of Marvel movies. people cheered for Groot, laughed heartily at Rocket Racoon, wowed at the climax cut scenes which were reminiscent of Return Of The Jedi.

I had high expectations and it did not disappoint at all. everyone agreed that this is worth a second viewing. the weird factor was heavy throughout the storyline, the cast was perfect, visual effects were astounding, acting was more than decent. great movie, stacks up against any comic book heavy weights 8/10. highly recommended for all ages. I'm taking my parents next weekend for sure, they're all caught up after watching Winter Soldier. can't wait to see it again.

I didn't think The Avengers was that great - it was enjoyable, but about a 7/10 for me. If this is better then I'm sure I'll enjoy it, when I get around to seeing it.

It gets off to a VERY clunky, clumsy start - but admittedly gets better. Although it sure does take its sweet ass time.

One character too many though - did NOT need the HAWK. Brought nothing to the story and just ended up being a forgettable drag. Also thought the character of Loki was way too "camp". I never believed him as a potential threat at any stage. He just came off as a rather droll, sarcastic thespian. That scene where he gives that speech to the crowd about how they crave subservience and gets them to kneel and then that one lone old guy refuses to kneel and......yeah it was all too laboured for words.

That's what ruined Nolan's Batman films for me - too many soliloquies. Far too much in the way of laboured, overly emotional baggage. Everybody just "read" their dialogue instead of "living" the dialogue.

It really suffered because of it.

I like my "bad" guys BAD. As in, violently bad and intimidating.

I'll still take the original Iron Man over any Marvel film any day. Or any other comic book film for that matter.

Loki is a lousy villain. Hawkeye was a waste of time largely - I agree. But I guess he was needed to justify more screen time for ScarJo.

Of all the Marvel movies leading up to The Avengers, I thought Captain America was the only one that was worse.

Also, they really need to make a Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo - I thought he was one of the stand outs in the cast of The Avenger.

Ronan and Thanos were much better villains in Guardians. best movie I've seen this year, if you dig the Hellboy movies Matthew I'm POSITIVE you'd like this.
