Pretty silly of them to announce it SO far in advance (with a trailer and all). And then.......zip.
Reminds me of another band.
You know that one's not made "by" The Melvins, right? It's independently produced and needed a Kickstarter to fund it so I'm sure that has everything to do with the time it's taking. It's surely a passion project for whoever is making it and not their "job." The "50 states" tour DVD or whatever is being made officially by The Melvins though. Looking forward to both.
MELVINS, who have a history of imaginative lineup changes, feature not one, but six different bass players on their appropriately titled new album "Basses Loaded", due on June 3 via Ipecac Recordings.
The collection features Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover joined by NIRVANA's Krist Novoselic, REDD KROSS's Steve McDonald, BUTTHOLE SURFERS' J.D. Pinkus, BIG BUSINESS's Jared Warren, MR. BUNGLE/FANTOMAS's Trevor Dunn and Crover swapping the drum kit for bass (as in the MELVINS' 1983 iteration). The album's nod to baseball, and the inclusion of the band's own version of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" is a natural one, with Buzz and Dale often spotted at games across the country.

“The Stoner Witch record was the middle record of the three that we did with Atlantic. It wasn’t the best selling record from that time; Houdini was the best selling one but that was actually my least favourite of the three. I’m proud of all of those records though, and when you listen to them you can tell there’s not a lot of record company meddling going on. Stoner Witch in particular was a lot of fun to make, and we really learnt a lot in the studio on that one. I think it was the longest time we ever spent in the studio actually; 19 days, which for us is a long time. Bands like Tool obviously spend about six months on their albums, and they’ve spent about ten years putting together the new one. And they haven’t even started recording yet, but Adam [Jones, Tool guitarist] told me the shortest song they’ve been working on is twelve minutes long. Anyway, Stoner Witch was great.”

That'd be cool if Buzzo was a guest on the new album.

It'd be cool if Buzzo wasn't the most reliable source for progress reports on Tool's new allbum.
