I'm listening to The Stone Roses self titled debut.
For all the so called "hysteria" surrounding this particular release....I gotta say, it's surprisingly twee. Cutesy indie "dance" rock with teenage-y poetry. Not bad per se but....all in all it's pretty naff. Fools Gold is great as is She Bangs The Drums. But I find it unbelievably hard to get even mildly excited by so called "classic Roses" fluff like This Is The One or Song For My Sugar Spun Sister.
It's the kind of music I guess I'd have thought someone would dj at naff college get-togethers, where drunk 20 somethings in baggy pants and towel hats hug each other a lot and ...oooooh!!!!.....somebody occasionally rolls a spliff! Either that or it's the kind of thing dorky 38 year old advertising execs would listen (and loudly sing along to) in their Volvos while driving along the highway to their holiday getaways in the countryside.
Oh to be middle aged and cynical.
Anyway, back to work.....

Pretty naff is exactly how I'd sum up one of the most overrated bands in the world.

Saw these guys pop up on a few "best of" lists here last year. Mutoid Man. Just a story about some new work they are doing for those interested.
Coming to Ft Worth soon anyone around the area for the Ft Worth Metal Fest at The Rail Club

This a pretty solid record. From memory, Hellboy shared the their bandcamp page with me about a year and a half or so ago. I remember listening to it at work and then purchasing when I got home.
I'm not big on genre labels, but I'd consider this, but not limit it to, the doom category, if only for the slowed down, tuned down, guitar driven aspect of the tunes.

Great band, not sure if I shared them or not. I love the mix on that track - plenty of breathing space for all the instruments, and not as dense as most doom releases tend to be. Vocals are a great change from the usual growling as well.

Föllakzoid began seven years ago as a trance experience between childhood friends Diego, Juan Pablo, and Domingo from Santiago, Chile. Heavily informed by the heritage of the ancient music of the Andes, the band has learned to integrate this influence with contemporary sounds of their times, creating a rich yet minimal atmosphere.
For III, the band wanted to expand their sound while building an atmosphere with mainly monochords and reiteration. After recording and mixing the album on their own at their studio at BYM Records, they partnered with German electronic maestro Atom TM to flesh out the album’s synth parts. Most of the sounds he provided were atonal electronic sounds, aiming for concrete frequencies and sampled organic glitches. (The Korg synthesizer Atom TM plays on this record was used by Kraftwerk on tour in the '80s.)
