This may have one fatal flaw in that most here are predisposed to choose a metal/rock genre and if someone chooses something outside that it will already be at a disadvantage.

I think we should leave it up to the judgment of the members. Remember, we're trying to show a band or album that many might've missed or not been aware of.

It worked perfectly last time, but for a few members. As an example, and without sounding like I'm deep-throating Tyson, I hadn't heard the albums he posted, and I knew vaguely of one of the artists. And, those albums were absolute hits. I loved 'em.

See, if he'd been up against whoever had picked THE MUSIC, he would've won, based on originality and getting us to listen to something we hadn't come across before.

Likewise with my LOREENA MCKENNIT choice. Literally no one here had heard of it, nor even the genre, I imagine, and it was a small success.

So, I'm actually going to backtrack and say we keep it as rule-free as possible. I don't know if trusting FE members to exercise their better judgement is a mistake or not, but I guess we'll see eventually.

I don't see that as being a problem at all.

In fact, if someone were to post a jazz/electronica fusion, I'd be far more inclined to listen to it more carefully than the other AOTW, should it be a straightforward instrumental prog-metal thing.
