TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- The Detroit Red Wings have won six Presidents' Trophies and 11 Stanley Cup titles in their storied history, but never before has the organization fielded the best team of prospects at its traditional Traverse City Tournament here at Center ICE Arena.

That missing piece was realized Monday before a capacity crowd when left wing Anthony Mantha, a 2013 first-round pick (No. 20), connected for two goals and one assist, and goalie Jared Coreau, a free-agent signee from Northern Michigan University, made 23 saves to lead the Red Wings' prospects to a 4-2 victory against the Buffalo Sabres in the 15th annual Traverse City championship game.

^ That's just embarrassing. Soccer is infinitely more interesting to watch, and play, than 'murkin football.

I think it's funny that those people posting their anti-soccer rants seem to be under the impression that yesterday was the first time ever that ESPN showed soccer games.

Cheese, I'd be as surprised as anyone if the US won the World Cup this year.

Shocker Tyson being a cunt. US is ranked higher and kicked Australia's ass the last time we played them in soccer. Eat a massive dick.

@ Poop - I have no idea why anyone is shocked that ESPN shows soccer. ESPN shows soccer regularly every week. MLS, ESPN FC, Qualifiers, the World Cup, the European Championships. For years they ran Champions League games. Up until last season they were running EPL games. NBC Sports Network shows soccer all the time. Fox broadcasts soccer regularly.

As for the comments it doesn't surprise me. This country is full of ignorant fucking cunts. The World Cup is the biggest sporting competition in the world by far.

Sure is nice that Arod with his looming suspension for being not only a cheat, but just a douche, is able to still help the Yankees. They'll shit the bed. O's will win today and than the Yanks and their bloated payroll with be behind the O's.

And neither team will get past the first series even if they do make it to the post-season.
