it simply isn't worth the effort to find yourself, is it.
You have that part absolutely right.
Then why blow up over it?
And why do you give a fuck, anyway? Isn't this forum for complete bullshit - "to keep it out of the other threads", or something to that effect?
You're really losing it, aren't you. No one member of this forum can be responsible for that, but I'm glad that I've played my part.

Sorry, didn't realise I did "blew up" over it. Â I guess I shouldn't have added an swear word to that sentence.
Eh, you certainly don't swear very often in your posts. A true gentleman, I guess.

You need a hug. All of us appreciate what you have done and continue to do with Fourth Eye. This is the best music forum around. I enjoy tweaking you now and again just as you enjoy calling me on my bullshit on occasion but you better believe if you needed help I would do whatever I could and I am sure most of the membership feels the same way. Tool should be paying you for everything you do to keep the community of fans informed. Shit I rarely ever go to toolband anymore.
I know there has been tension around here lately. Have you thought about maybe adding a few more mods?
Also, where do you see Fourth Eye going as a website? I think the site is experiencing a bit of an identity crisis. You have new members joining thinking this is a Tool fan site. You have a number of old timers from TA who have known each other for years and then you have people like myself who look at this place first and foremost as an Entertainment Forum.

We don't need more mods. Â I still dislike the idea of trying to control the forum too much.
That said I still believe it's important to remain on topic in most threads (more particularly Tool threads). Â Largely this is fine, but from time to time you guys need reminding...
I agree. I was reading through one of the Tool threads recently and it is all over the place. Have you given any thought to separating the forum up a bit more? I know you have categories but the I think the most recently updated thread display view sort of lends itself to off topic/cross over types of posts. Maybe join the Tool/Puscifer/APC/News forums together and then have one general off topic sub forum where anything goes? Dunno bro just tossin out ideas to ease the tension a bit.

Thanks for the suggestions. Â We already have an infinity forum which is for offtopic stuff, so not sure what the reorganising you suggest would achieve?
The only real tension on the site exists between Tool fans who see nothing wrong, and the more cynical among us. Â That's never going to change.

Only way I can see to clean things up is to not allow personal attacks from either camp outside of the Infinity forum. Might be time to get a bit heavy handed. No one can accuse you of over moderation.

I understand what you're saying Mog, and with the exception of this Grudge thread, that's more or less how I run it. Â However I don't thoroughly read every post made on Fourtheye, and there are always some that creep in.
On top of that, I'm pretty thick skinned, not to mention Australian, where it is culturally acceptable to have a laugh at others expense a little more, so often I see a joke made by some reader as a harmless quip rather than some kind of slander.
And on top of that, some are genuinely offended (for better or worse) when you don't agree with their opinion. Â This goes both for the fanbois and the detractors. Â There is so much grey area, it is hard to police, and my general stance is that you guys need to police yourselves.

forum is on fire today, huh? i love this place and love Tool. I will continue to talk shit until they do anything whatsoever that isnt trying to sell me something at a crazy price. So do a lot of you really blindly follow this band and really love everything about them both personally and professionally because they have made a few good albums and put on a great live show? i went to a lot of parties in high school and cant say that i love any of the people that threw them just because they facilitated a good time for me. Â Tool is an indefensible band at this point and i laugh everytime i see someone start to defend them. you know they hate you (and me and every person that is a Tool fan) right?
I love that they hate us. learn to swim.
THIS
Why should TOOL "like" their fans? Most of them are brainless grungeloving-metalhead-douchebags who categorize them with shit bands like System of a Down and Chevelle. They cannot grasp the depth in TOOL's music and the underlying message within it.
Why would TOOL waste their time showing appreciation to people who have never even had a true understanding of them. They have been dealing with headbanger faggots their entire career. Their attitude towards them at this point doesn't surprise me one bit.
TOOL knows that any true fan of them understands why they have to treat the majority of their fan base like garbage because that is exactly what they are. "Learn to swim" sums up how they feel about most people. The majority should be wiped out because they are scum; they are worthless, hopeless, mindless, etc., etc....
They show appreciation to their real fans through their music and that is all it is really about anyway. If you think that the way TOOL operates is unorthodox (and don't think that is a good thing) then you are completely oblivious to what TOOL stands for in the first place and do not deserve any of their appreciation... not that any of us do anyhow...

I can only speak for myself, but I definitely tend to go off-topic on the more important threads. I realise that they're usually the threads that you'd want the public to see as well. So, duly noted, once again. It's a shame that I need constant reminding in my life to not be an asshole, yet here I stand.
More mods would be a fucking disaster here. As big of an asshole some of us are, it's not like we troll, in the purest sense of the term. And it's certainly not our fault if some people really, really, really, really, really, enjoy the taste of 'Nard semen.

You beat yourself too up much - I'm hardly innocent of this myself. Â Every now and then we just need to lean back in our chairs, and remember "this is the internet, who gives a fuck what some anonymous idiot I'm never likely to meet really thinks".

My mistake. Won't happen again.
