Ha there was a lunch interval sketch of Botham and Athers going around asking people...'How do you get Steven Smith out?" - quite funny.

Keep the Ashes warm for us xx

Master tactician Kane Williamson decided to bowl.

Still scratching my head.

Yeh, I think he may be slightly regretting that one right now. Especially when they reckon it's gonna get up to 40 degrees tomorrow. Should be good fun fielding in that.

Also I've been listening to the entire test on ABC Grandstand, first time and it's been a wonderful experience.

No fucking morons.

I've always been a fan of grandstand. I'm finding the free to air tv coverage for cricket to be similar to NRL, where they have these legends of the game who are too busy trying to show off their tactical nouse, that commentate the game itself.

They standard of commentry is pretty low these days, and it was never a high bar to begin with. Still, I've enjoyed the test so far.

He's technically a Saffa but moved here as a kid and is good at cricket, so 100% Australian.

Time to fire up this thread.

Not a bad start to day 1. Hopefully the Aussie batsmen do their job now...

How good was 1st wicket to watch! What a start. Hopefully the rain doesn't set in for too long, otherwise this 12th man quote comes to mind.

well yes they do need the rain England, but they don't deserve it. They deserve to be thrashed here today. They've been totally outclassed by the Australians, and now it looks like Australia might be denied the chance to win the game fairly and squarely because of rain and I think that's pretty fucked!
