I listened to the Ernie Ball podcast with Justin last night. It was a great conversation.

Seems there is some movement on TOOLband. The old TOOLarmy posts are back up. With any luck some exclusive merch will be offered.

Puscifer ramping up now to tag-team the summer festival circuit next year. Maybe giving MJK music for the road? Puscifer supporting act for (what’s it called?), “Big Day Out” in Australia next summer?

Big Day Out is no more, hasn't been a thing for quite a few years.

I don't reckon we'll see Puscifer and Tool team up for shows next year. I do suspect that Tool will be here for the Download Festival, which is the closest thing we have to the Big Day Out these days.

Yeah if Download festival goes ahead I can't see Tool not being the headliner.
And despite their being a precedent with Puscifer playing with APC in Aus & with Tool in Europe, I don't see it happening this time either.

Yeah, it ended a while ago. I did a few of those with several different bands.
The former Production Manager for BDO (and Soundwave) has been the Production Manager for Tool for a few years, now.
The former lighting crew chief for those 2 festivals is the lighting crew chief for Tool now, as well.

Just yesterday I was reading that the festival organisers have started to notify music media that it will be happening, so I think we can lock in Download as an event next year.
As to Tool playing, I think Tool and/or Rammstein would be the number one target for the promoters, so I'd have no doubt Tool have at least been made an offer to headline. Whether or not they took up the offer I assume we'll find out in the next month or so. Will be interesting to see if we end up with a repeat of the 2011 BDO with Tool & Rammstein as dual headliners.

Won't be at all surprised if we get that double header but even failing rammstein not coming I will be downright stunned if tool aren't headliners. Given the hype around the band lately they would have to be number one target. Download Aus could use the publicity and I imagine financially it's a better proposition for Tool.
What I'm mainly curious about is if they'll be allowed to do a sideshow. Id assume not which would suck but on the plus side would mean a return for some headline shows 12-18 months later and maybe with Puscifer in tow.

I doubt Tool would be content with doing only 2 shows in Australia, so I suspect if they play the festival, they will do other shows. Or at the very least a second run of shows at some future point.
I actually think the likely scenario is Rammstein headlining Download, and Tool doing their own thing.

I hooe youre right.
I thought download was 3 cities now? Still only Melb and Syd is it? I was expecting download, a sideshow or 2 if allowed and then a proper return tour 12 -18 months later
We've got loads of Aussies, now.
2 of the video crew and 1 of the sound crew, as well.
3 Canadians and 2 ex-Canadians.
3 from the UK, and 1 Belgian.
So international, we are.

Hey junior as an industry insider did you ever have much to do with AJ Maddah?
Is he a pariah now in the music industry?
Understand if you don't want to gossip like a Liz or Busty.

Knew of him, but can't say I know him.
Might have met once or twice, but don't recall.
There's usually a level or 2 of people between my job and someone with his job.
