dropping by to say im intrigued by the site of professional mics and cameras spotted at recent shows in Europe. with DC also saying they would like to/plan to release a live DVD of the 2002 era, i have hope.
Release date may be a decade away, but at least the footage is being captured for something someday.
I haven’t seen any.
Sorry to be a buzzkill.
What about reports such as this? Im by no means an audio/video connoisseur, but that does kind of look like a camera to the layman? Then again it could just be a laser or lights. Can you confirm or deny? or is that pesky NDA forcing you to lie.

Looks like a Blackmagic URSA or URSA Broadcast, but I might be wrong.

Holy hell! Those are some pretty sweet set lists. Remove the duplicates and hopefully a new live record/Blu-ray is in the works.

There are (and have been) 2 cameras at that position for the entire tour. And something similar going back many years.
Our video operator (Breck) uses one of those to record every show in a simple wide shot of the entire stage. It's the same wide shot every night, and gets archived onto a hard-drive so the band can see what it looks like, and lights-lasers-video departments can also look at parts of the show that need work. It doesn't shoot anything that could be used as a home video, at least not without a number of other cameras getting closeups and whatnot, and there aren't any for that.
The other one is used for a video feedback effect on the screen that can be seen primarily in "Invincible" after the bass solo, during Danny's marimba-synth thingy section. Think "infinity mirror". He used to use it in "Jambi", as well.
There is also a camera directly over Danny that's used for the drum solo, and a small one attached to his gong stand that is used when he is at "The Toolbox" getting his synth sequence dialed in for the 2nd half of the drum solo.

It goes without saying, but far out it's neat having you on this forum answering these things and bantering. Good stuff.
Logistics Q) do the tour buses take The Chunnel Freight train? How does all the gear/crew get to Ireland and back in a relatively short turnaround?

I wonder if 7empest was a one off for the tour at birthday boys request or will start getting played for remainder of tour intermittently now.

There have been times that the Calais/Dover ferry was used. This time it was the Chunnel train in both directions. Much nicer, because you can still sleep on the bus while it's on the train.
To and from Ireland was the Holyhead/Dublin Ferry.

Not sure if he records to a camera card, or straight to the computer in that rack it's mounted to.
The old system went to a computer.

According to setlist.fm they just played 7empest in London.
Haha they really hate America don't they. You'll get it one day team.... next tour.. send more money n all that.
Fuck yeah Busty! Yeah, they are making us wait to hear this song live. I'm thinking that after Maynard does his tour with Puscifer, there will be another tool north american tour and they will start playing 7empest. We'll see. I'm waiting, so I can give them all my money to see this song.

In that case I'd suggest getting tickets to a city where they're playing multiple nights, give yourself the best chance.

Sif you wouldn't always try to purchase both nights, a tour only comes around every so often these days, especially for the international fanbase.

Accoustics yesterday in Antwerp were horrible the first 3-4 songs. I don't know if they rectified something but after these songs it was better.
