Anyone into these guys? Al Cisneros of Sleep is the bassplayer/singer. The music is "interesting". Seeing them Friday, looking forward to it.

Was going to go see them tomorrow night, but the concert budget has been drained, and I need a fucking night off.  Maybe next time.

Should be seeing Sleep in October though!

Yes, massively into OM. One of the greatest bands in recent decades.

I noticed Sleep were coming here! I've been trying to find out if there's a sideshow for Melbourne, because the only date I can find listed is some festival that looks like it could be a lame hipster-fest.

Here it is: http://www.atpfestival.com/events/relea ... bourne.php

Might have to go to this thing if there's no other option.

I'll try and remember to post a review of Om in this thread after Friday.

I'll be at the festival.  Everyone I've spoken to says the festival is the best they've been to in Australia, so I wouldn't get too worried about it being a "hipsterfest".  Given the number of old 90-s bands on the lineup I'd expect the crowd to be equally old (I'm going for the Jesus Lizard mainly).

I'll see you there...

"ADVAITIC SONGS" is you want really far-out stuff that reeks of incense. "GOD IS GOOD" if you don't want a too full-on experience.

"PILGRIMAGE" to rock out.

"CONFERENCE OF THE BIRDS" to hear what could be their best song ("Flight Of The Eagle"). "VARIATIONS ON A THEME" for vintage OM.

Or you could just grab them all, because they will make you a better person.

The Jesus Lizard are one of the best live acts in the world.  Admittedly they're well past their peak, but when I saw them live in 96 it was right up there in my top 5 gigs of all time.

Ever seen the documentary "Such Hawks Such Hounds - Scenes From The American Hard Rock Underground"?

It's got a lot about Om, Sleep, High on Fire, Kyuss, Scott Wino, many others and just Stoner Rock in general. It's great, think I've watched it 4-5 times now

Just got into OM. Is there a thread on this already?, if so I couldn't find it.

This shit is pretty righteous. The bass on the second song off their new album is just sick.

Edit: Om thread on page 2. hurr durr
