Anybody who is a fan of Isis, intronaut, or any form of prog/post metal should check these guys out.
I just got into them recently and their albums are awesome after listening for the last month.
Anybody know how they are as a live band?
This album very much resembles panopticon imo, check it out:

As this isn't an album of the week, listened to 30 minutes, pretty derivative of isis, got better bands to listen to.

I've always liked CULT OF LUNA, but I can't remember the last time I listened to them.

Nothing about Cult of Luna is derivative of Isis. COL have been at this for some time. The bands toured together and both are considered post-metal but they sound completely different and their approach to song writing is completely different.
@Wise - If you dig COL I HIGHLY recommend you check out Bossk. Their body of work is much smaller but they are fucking fantastic. .I and .II are fucking brilliant.

I agree that it doesn't sound like Isis. It's not bad,not great though. Worth another listen or 3. 6/10

If you want to get into COL you need to check out Somewhere Along the Highway and Vertikal. Their best albums by far. Significantly better than Salvation. Eternal Kingdom is excellent as well.
Dark City, Dead Man off Somewhere Along the Highway
Vicarious Redemption off Vertikal
Ghost Trail off Eternal Kingdom

Gave it a 6. That's "Good" in my book. I'll give it another listen before I decide to keep or delete it from my rhapsody list.

yeah I personally like vertikal and eternal kingdom the most. I have only really gotten into post metal in the last 2 years, since i'm only 22, and obviously didn't discover any of this music during high school. (all the noobs listening to chris brown and rihanna).
Tool got me into Isis, and damn I fkin love Isis.
Ever since discovering Isis, i've realized that post metal is a great fucking genre of music.
And yeah i'll be seeing CoL and intronaut in concert next month, so I will soon find out if they are any good live

yeah dude that would be cool. I like post metal, and prog metal, but i'm not really into that evil death metal shit, like meshuggah.
I'm not trying to summon satan here LOL.
I like metal that is along the vein of Isis, intronaut, CoL, Pelican, Red Sparrowes, omega massif.

Right on dude. Will put together a list for you tomorrow. Nothing too heavy. Maybe a little sludge but certainly nothing Meshuggah heavy. Meshuggah is not evil death metal tho lol Lots of misconceptions about metal.

I really disagree with KHANATE being considered "drone". I'd like to think of myself as being quite knowledgeable when it comes to the genre.

I would like Cult of Luna more if they were just an instrumental band. The singing puts me off.
I really liked the Bossk selection, will be checking out more of that. Thanks.
