Top 10 Vocalists of All Time
***EDIT: Original thread separated into 5 threads to make it less confusing.
A few months back, I got extremely bored one day and decided to try and come up with my own personal top 10 list of musicians at each instrument commonly found in a rock band. I kinda figured that this had probably been a topic in the past, but I couldn't find any similar threads. Since Hellboy decided to post his top 10 Tool songs, I figured now would be as good of a time as any to put this out there for discussion. I tried my best to make my list as objective as possible, but in all honesty it probably ended up about 50% objective, 50% subjective (and even that might be an underestimation). Anyways, here it is:
Vocalists (This category is probably the most subjective of all of them... I tried to pick more so on tone and ability to convey emotion and tell a story through their singing, not so much on range or vocal gymnastics)
1.) Roger Waters - Pink Floyd
2.) Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin
3.) Maynard James Keenan - Tool
4.) Layne Staley - Alice in Chains
5.) John Fogerty - Creedence Clearwater Revival
6.) John Lennon - The Beatles
7.) Chad Gray - Mudvayne
8.) Elton John
9.) Steven Wilson - Porcupine Tree
10.) Pete Loeffler - Chevelle
And there you have it. Feel free to add any categories you think should be included. I'm looking forward to seeing what other people have to say.

Turns out I've got a thing for women named Beth, huh, you learn something new everyday.
I actively try to avoid that.

I actually had a think about this and the conclusion is some one named New York Hard Core criticising my choices on vocalists, well then, LOLN.Y.H.C. wrote:no Yorke? Not Tyson wrote:Sam Cooke

Agreed. The fact that none of The Three Tenors have made anyone's list is criminal. Not Tyson wrote:Frank Ocean almost made a mention here

Re: Top 10 Vocalists of All Time
I get the sarcasm, but with continual bs claims by mog that we are somehow the musical elite when it comes to suggesting music, I'd like a timely reminder that we like what we like, it doesn't have to be technical AND most people on this forum would put chevelle in their top 10.The Boss wrote:Agreed.
