Tickets to that Converge/Old Man Gloom show are only $40.  You'd be a fool not to go for that price.

And how appropriate is that venue? Perfect for a couple of old queens like HB and Pete!

Why wouldn't you just go to that show?  Plenty of excellent bands on that lineup.

Hopefully you mean Adelaide sideshows though, in which case I fully support your statement.

Black Breath are a band I've been following for a while now, and made the honorable mentions section on my best of 2012 list.  Good news this morning in that I read they are touring Australia, including Adelaide.  They seem to be playing a bunch of small venues (in fact I haven't even heard of most of the non-Adelaide venues) so should be excellent shows with my seal of approval.

4/5/13 Brisbane, AUS @ Crowbar*
4/6/13 Sydney, AUS @ Hermanns*
4/7/13 Canberra, AUS @ The Basement*
4/10/13 Adelaide, AUS @ Enigma Bar*
4/11/13 Melbourne, AUS @ Reverence*
* w/ I Exist

Here's a video:

I Exist are pretty cool as well:

Dude, dig the Black Breath music but that drummer is hilarious.  And I love that the rest of the members totally want to be Cliff Burton.  Thumbs.......

Apparently Katatonia are supporting Opeth on the Aussie tour, which makes the show sound infinitely more exciting...

Will have to check my bank balance

Update:

It finally happens! For the first time in Katatonia’s history we’re coming down under to play clubs instead of festivals. To spice the news even more, we have the honor to do it as special guests to Opeth and it’s happening already next month!!! So, make sure to get hold of tickets asap as the forecasts predict a “likely risk” these shows will soon be sold out!

Let it be known that we just can’t wait to return to OZ and deliver the Swedish goods at the following dates!

Hellboy, I'd recommend checking out Opeth. I've already seen them twice on the Heritage cycle, but both shows were spectacular. My understanding is that the upcoming tour will be a return to form for Opeth, as Mikael mentioned they're probably going to be playing heavier songs again. Plus, there's always the 0.001% chance you'll get a Bloodbath song or two since they're touring with Katatonia again.

Ahh, here it is.  Got my tickets for Black Keys and Flaming Lips in July... would love to catch them in New Orleans but that isn't happening.  Souper excited.

If it can squeeze it into the budget, I'll get out to the show.  I'm not a huge Opeth fan, but I figure they'd be a decent live act, and the venue is a good one as well.

More amazing than Mark Lanegan:

KRAFTWERK – THE CATALOGUE 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Joan Sutherland Theatre, Sydney Opera House

Friday, May 24, 7pm – Autobahn (1974)
Friday, May 24, 9.30pm – Radio-Activity (1975)
Saturday, May 25, 7pm – Trans Europe Express (1977)
Saturday, May 25, 9.30pm – The Man Machine (1978)
Sunday, May 26, 7pm – Computer World (1981)
Sunday, May 26, 9.30pm – Techno Pop (1986)
Monday, May 27, 7pm – The Mix (1991)
Monday, May 27, 9.30pm – Tour De France (2003)

Just as interesting is the ticketing process:

Fergus Linehan, festival director of Vivid LIVE, said demand for the shows is expected to be high following a “phenomenal reaction” to their performances in MoMA and TATE Modern in New York. “These eight concerts are a mind-melting feast for the eyes and the ears that are sure to sell out.”

All tickets will be allocated via an online application process that runs from February 25 to March 1. All applications will be equally considered and not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply here.

Edit: Seems as though tickets will be selected randomly, with seperate draws for interstate and international guests.  I was hoping there'd be some kind of exam or something...

Saw Einsturzende Neubauten at The Palace Theatre in Melbourne last night.

Amazing. I'm still speechless.

And listening to the mp3 of the gig that I bought on a Neubauten USB stick.
