I've got an absolute soft spot for this fella and have since I was a toddler ... although 'moondance' may be considered a more typically well-known classic album, there's no denying the overall influence this record had at the time.

Great. Astral Weeks. The cornerstone of every goatee'd, 55 year old urban hippy's record collection.

Way to be "creative" and spread the word on new and/or interesting music for your fellow forum members to discover.

Why not review The Eagles Greatest Hits or Neil Diamond's Hot August Night while yr at it?!?

It's a classic. I haven't listened to Van in a long while, but it's worth another spin for sure. Good pick.

@Cal - Stop being a fucking cunt. Why not just review the fucking album or go the hellboy route and skip it? This is CLASSIC album of the week. Album of the Week is about exposing people to new music. Classic album is about revisiting albums that are generally considered classic albums, even if you don't necessarily like the album or genre. Now Tyson's pick was a stretch with Kayne fucking West but Van Morrison comes fairly close to fitting the bill. You pulled the same shit with my Miles Davis pick. You didn't review the album, you just yapped about Bitches Brew being better. Why not expound on that statement? What makes Bitches Brew better than Kind of Blue? Where does Blue fall short in your eyes? Actually engage in the conversation.

@Pete - Solid pick. I am not really a big Van Morrison fan but this isn't a bad album. The guy can sing his ass off no doubt about that. Musically it is kind of weak though. I get he is going after a folky/blusey vibe but the music feels under-developed, which is a shame because lyrically/vocally he crushes it.

7 / 10
