Justin in Bass Guitar

Slicknickshady on Toolnavy has come up with the goods again, and shares with us some snippets from a recent Justin Chancellor interview in Bass Guitar magazine.  Here’s my favorite grab: Chancellor’s sound begins with the active pickups in his four-string birds-eye maple and mahogany Wal bass, which he bought shortly after he joined Tool in 1995 for rehearsals that would lead to the compleation of Aenima. At the time, his… Read More »Justin in Bass Guitar

Korean Show, Volto

Blair makes a couple of posts on Toolband/Army to day, the first of which reveals that Tool will be playing at the Olympic Main Stadium in Seoul, Korea on the 15th of August. He also mentions that Danny will be playing with Volto on July the 20th at the Baked Potato in LA.

Justin in Guitarist Australia

Went down to the newsagent and as usual, picked up the latest copy of Guitarist Australia (just in case you’re wondering, the issue shown there is actually the last one, not the current one), and was pleasantly surprised to see and interview with Justin Chancellor inside.  The article’s not particularly long, maybe a page and a half, with a lot of filler.  After quickly skimming through it, it seemed the… Read More »Justin in Guitarist Australia

Tool – Paris – Nihil

Oliver tells me that the French band Nihil will be supporting Tool on their Paris show on the 28th of June.  The name rings a bell, but I can’t say I’ve ever heard any of their music.  Hope they’re good!

Stuff

A few snippets of info the last couple of days. CorpseGrindeR (who’s definitely NOT Gay) on Toolarmy posted a few links to some nice Tool photos yesterday. No idea who took them, but they appear to have been taken by someone in the crowd at the recent Tempe show. Dial-up users take not, they’re big pictures! http://img464.imageshack.us/img464/7151/adammaynardtooltempe061sk.jpg http://img464.imageshack.us/img464/8374/aenimatooltempe064ah.jpg http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/738/toolclosetempe063hp.jpg http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/4311/lipancontooltempe068nd.jpg Toolband/Army has confirmed that Tool are playing the Street Scene… Read More »Stuff

Street Scene 06

Apparently Tool are playing at the Street Scene Festival in San Diego on the 4th or 5th of August. Looks like Tool will be all over the place around then. San Diego early AUgust, Japan in the middle (plus Oz/NZ?) and then back to the US for their arena tour. Good way to build up the frequent flyer points I suppose! Other bands on the gig include Queens of the… Read More »Street Scene 06

Danny + Drums = Awesome

I was just trawling though Toolarmy and noticed that The Betterfly had posted a couple of Danny Carey pics I though you lot may appreciate. Look out for him in the June edition of Modern Drummer!

Alex Grey Video?

Just got an announcement from the COSM webmaster saying that there’s a couple of previews of a video that Adam and Alex Grey have been working on in an undisclosed location in LA.  Check out these videos here: http://www.alexgrey.com/tool.html Vicarious perhaps?

Living Colour, Rumours

For those of you who live in Sydney, and have nothing to do on Saturday night (the 20th) make sure you get on over to The Roxy to see one of my favorite bands – Living Colour.  These guys (as well as Tool and Faith No More) we’re probably the biggest influences on me musically when I was younger.  Sadly, they’re touring nowhere near Northern Queensland, so I won’t get… Read More »Living Colour, Rumours

Chet Zar’s Live Painting

Adam’s good mate Chet Zar will be painting live this Saturday the 20th of May at the Max Group Art Show (1018 Santa Fe Ave., Los Angeles, CA.). More details can be found on his website. He also seems to have a new art show on the 9th of June. Thanks to Blair on Toolband/Army for that info. Happy Birthday Mum!
