Danny & Blair chat on Children of Saturn

As promised, Danny and Blair had a chat on Rynne’s Children of Saturn show, discussing their trip to France as well as a small update on Tool. They also took a few questions from Facebook, one of which was from yours truly! Here’s a summary of the bits I imagine most of you are interested in: Songwriting is progressing well, especially on the 20 minute epic they’ve mentioned numerous times.… Read More »Danny & Blair chat on Children of Saturn

More Smoke On The Horizon…

Adam has posted another photo with the tag #SmokeOnTheHorizon this time a shot of all four members of Tool in the newly refurbished Loft. Presumably they’re listing to some material for the new album, and Maynard is either starting his lyrical process, or is listening to the progress so far. It’s hard to get too excited considering all the delays we’ve had, but it finally looks as though we have… Read More »More Smoke On The Horizon…

Smoke On The Horizon

Adam posted a shot from (hopefully) the Loft’s whiteboard today with the hashtag #SmokeOnTheHorizon. Will there be fire where there is smoke? Update: And a follow-up from Maynard:

Danny to fill in for Herb in September Primus shows

Primus and Tool fans are in for a treat the September as Danny is set to fill in for Tim “Herb” Alexander for a few shows in September. Rolling Stone reports: The drummer will be joining the bass-rumbling alt-rockers for their Riot Fest appearances in Chicago and Denver, as well as an after party at the Windy City’s Concord Music Hall on September 13th. Claypool reports that they decided to… Read More »Danny to fill in for Herb in September Primus shows

Adam talks Tool with Metal Hammer

Metal Hammer asked Adam a few questions about the legal issues facing Tool, as well as an update of sorts on the new album: Speaking of writing music, how is the new material coming along and what kind of direction is it taking? “We’re always on an experimental path. We never think about what worked on the last record or what’s good on the radio right now. It’s a selfish… Read More »Adam talks Tool with Metal Hammer

Tool outline legal woes and update us on song-writing

In a lengthy Tool interview with Rolling Stone, Adam and Danny outline the legal woes that have drained their time, resources and creativity over the last 7 years: “And it’s costing millions and millions and millions of dollars to defend us,” Jones adds. “And the fans are all going, ‘We want a new Tool album. What the fuck?’ And you don’t want to pull people into your problems, because they… Read More »Tool outline legal woes and update us on song-writing

Blair uses capital letters to describe new album process

In an update from Blair just this morning he describes some progress on the next Tool album: The other day an insider (and by “insider” I mean truly an insider!) told me that since getting back to working on material for the next record, things have been going VERY well. Now, don’t read more into this than it suggests – which is that there have been some good writing/arranging sessions… Read More »Blair uses capital letters to describe new album process

Sounds from the Sound Check

One of our Fourtheye (and Toolnavy) regulars Kanaduh managed to smuggle a recording device into a recent Tool sound check, and he managed to capture the band jamming something a little new, as well as a few older classics. Enjoy! (Needless to say it’s a little spoilerish if you haven’t already heard them this tour) Update: Clip has been removed at the bands request.

Adam reported as saying the new album is 100% finished?

In news just at hand, it’s being reported on some sites that Adam has mentioned at VIP sessions that the album is 100% finished, and will be released later this year. From an article from Aussie site Crave Online: At a pre-show VIP meet & greet in Portland, OR on Thursday afternoon on the band’s current tour, guitarist Adam Jones confirmed to our exclusive source that the alien-prog rock maestros’… Read More »Adam reported as saying the new album is 100% finished?

November 2013 Tool Newsletter released

Blair has posted the November Tool Newsletter, which is largely a reasonably positive update on the status of Tool songwriting, and very little of the stuff you guys normally complain about (though I’m sure several of you are still more than capable of complaining regardless). He also discusses the Mexican Festival date, and the possibility of other dates. The short answer is he doesn’t know if there will be any,… Read More »November 2013 Tool Newsletter released
