Danny Carey

Happy Birthday Danny

Danny was born waaaaaay back on May 10, 1961 (at least according to Wikipedia) and today, being the 52nd anniversary of his entry to this world, it is customary, at least on Fourtheye, to post a video of his finest work. Today’s video, is a version of Jambi from last weeks show in Adelaide. It features some nice work from Danny and his machinery. Those still waiting to see Tool… Read More »Happy Birthday Danny

Danny & Maynard speak to Rip It Up NZ

There was a flurry of interviews with Tool earlier this year, and we were promised ones with Danny and Maynard via New Zealand’s Rip It Up magazine. Finally those interviews have appeared on line for your reading pleasure. Here’s an excerpt: You probably get sick of questions about how the record’s going, but – I mean you’re in a studio making new material, then you’re preparing to tour with older… Read More »Danny & Maynard speak to Rip It Up NZ

April 2013 Tool Newsletter

Blair has posted the April 2013 Tool Newsletter, and it doesn’t have anything particularly exciting for Tool fans (ie no new album news). It does feature and interesting question regarding Truckfighters, as well as some clarification regard a few things with the Opiate reissue: Q: “Hi! Don’t know who to contact really, maybe you could help me in the right direction? Just checking will TOOL release new material soon? Hopefully… Read More »April 2013 Tool Newsletter

Danny to debut new synth at Australian shows

Crow and Badkittygothgirl informed me this afternoon Danny appears to be using a new synth on the coming Tool tour: Update: Part 2 of the video has arrived and without further ado: From the video’s description: This is the Plan B Toolbox Modular Synthesizer, built for Danny Carey of Tool which will make it’s public debut with Tool on Saturday, April 27 at the Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia –… Read More »Danny to debut new synth at Australian shows

Ashes Divide live and Danny “Superman” Carey

A couple of things I’ve come across this morning. Firstly Billy Howerdel‘s other band Ashes Divide, who feature Jeff Friedl and Mat McJunkins from Puscifer are playing a show at The Satellite in LA on May 8th. Carina Round is also on the bill. You can find more detail here. Thanks to fortysixand2 for the tip. Like many of us, I watched the new Superman trailer yesterday. It didn’t spark… Read More »Ashes Divide live and Danny “Superman” Carey

Danny and Adam Opiate interviews with Blair online

There hasn’t been an announcement, but several Fourtheye readers have notified me that both Adam’s and Danny’s interview with Blair have been published. The one with Adam appears in the last newsletter on Toolband. It’s largely a reprint of what has already been talked about in other interviews. Danny’s, found on his website, is a little more interesting, and he talks about his work on Opiate and hints at some… Read More »Danny and Adam Opiate interviews with Blair online

Yet another Danny interview

Sick of Tool interviews yet? I know I feel like I’ve spent all day reading and posting them. This one is from The Rock FM which is a New Zealand radio station. Tracy had a chat to Danny about a range of topics which you can listen to here. For those not willing/able to listen, here are the main points: Danny has recently done some recording with Jason Bonham and… Read More »Yet another Danny interview

Danny Carey, Larry Lalonde, Matt Stone and Stewart Copeland

davidbowiedavidbowie from Reddit posted this video up from Youtube earlier today, which features a new jam with Danny, Larry Lalonde (Primus), Matt Stone (South Park) and Stewart Copeland (The Police). From what I understand the track is called Blotto Mondo and was recorded at Copeland’s house/studio. Danny contributes some percussion, including the triangle, in what is an interesting video:

Volto! Incitare review and release

John Ziegler from Volto! posted the recent Incitare review from Rhythm Magazine on his Facebook page today. He commented that while the specific released date was to be announced, it should be mid March. Hopefully this turns out to be true! Here’s the review:

Danny speaks in Rhythm Magazine

Danny is featured in an interview for the UK drum magazine Rhythm in the February 2013 issue, and he discusses a range of topics including that status of Tool’s new album. Here’s the meat of the article I expect most of you are interested in: What stage are you at in the writing process for the new Tool album? We have six or seven really good frameworks that we’re working… Read More »Danny speaks in Rhythm Magazine
