MJK related announcement for Aftershock Festival?

The organisers of the Aftershock Festival, held in Sacramento, California on the 22nd and 23rd of October have posted an image of a bottle of Caduceus Anubis 2011 as well as a suggestion that the lineup will drop next Tuesday.  Perhaps they really love Maynard’s wine, or possibly it’s a hint that one of his bands will be included on the bill.   Many of you would be familiar with… Read More »MJK related announcement for Aftershock Festival?

May 2016 Tool Newsletter out now!

Blair has posted the May 2016 Tool Newsletter, and it appears there’s no real news of note at the moment.  Instead the newsletter contains an interview with a random Tool fan.  Those with low tolerance for Blair–isms should probably give it a miss. Here’s the final question with a few asterisks for you guys to ponder: ANSWER: “How about Problem 8. Just kidding. Having heard Faaip de Oiad, I’m good… But,… Read More »May 2016 Tool Newsletter out now!

Ten years has passed since the release of Tool’s last album 10,000 Days, and a couple of websites have celebrated the anniversary with some retrospectives. In our absence, Blair has posted the April 2016 Tool newsletter, which includes a censored section for you to decipher (if you are so inclined): During a recent phone conversation with a certain band member, he told me the following: “Goddamn, I just ******* the *** **** ***** and it was pretty damn amazing! Maynard “still hopeful” of a Tool album

It looks like Maynard hasn’t given up hope of a new Tool album, at least according to a recent interview with WMMR (a radio station in Philadelphia I believe).  You can listen to the whole interview below, Maynard comes online at about the 1:46 mark.  It’s an ok interview, nothing you haven’t really heard before though (though I did discover Al Bundy has a black belt): When asked about Tool news… Read More »Maynard “still hopeful” of a Tool album

Tool rumours for Voodoo and Riotfests

A rumour today, by an allegedly good source suggests that Tool are locked in for the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, and the Riotfest in Chicago and Denver. I have no insight into how good this rumour might be, and the dates of the festival are likely within the wine harvest, so treat them with a good dose of salt for now…

Axl Rose to join Tool on European tour

In news just at hand, Gun’s n’ Roses legend Axl Rose is reportedly filling in for Maynard on a special Tool tour to Europe later in 2016. Adam Jones says: “We connected with Axl recently at a party in Malibu, and got talking about Chinese Democracy and some of the problem he went through during it’s protracted writing/recording process. We had plenty in common, and it became apparent that we… Read More »Axl Rose to join Tool on European tour

Tool March 2016 Newsletter

Blair has posted the March 2016 Tool Newsletter, and this month it recounts the life and death of a Pepsi cooler in the Loft. The status of the new album does get a bit of a mention though: After a short deliberation it was unanimously agreed by the band members – as a tribute to its many years of commendable service – to continue with the day’s session. Afterwards, there… Read More »Tool March 2016 Newsletter

For those Tool tour poster collectors out there, take note that the Toolband store has had a range of these appear online in the last few days. One of the shirts you can buy at the moment is the nice Adi… Read More »Tool Tour 2016 shirts and posters

Maynard suggest Tool have found “common ground”

In a recent interview with The Press Enterprise, Maynard James Keenan mostly talks about Puscifer , but also gives us an interesting statement about Tool, as well as expressing a desire to work on A Perfect Circle again: Keenan said he hopes he will work again with his main A Perfect Circle collaborator, Billy Howerdel, and make new music with that band. As for Tool, there have been signs of… Read More »Maynard suggest Tool have found “common ground”
