November 2013 Tool Newsletter released

Blair has posted the November Tool Newsletter, which is largely a reasonably positive update on the status of Tool songwriting, and very little of the stuff you guys normally complain about (though I’m sure several of you are still more than capable of complaining regardless). He also discusses the Mexican Festival date, and the possibility of other dates. The short answer is he doesn’t know if there will be any,… Read More »November 2013 Tool Newsletter released

Tool to play in Mexico in March?

According to the Primus Facebook page, Tool, Primus and Puscifer will be playing the Cumbre Tajin Festival in Papantla, Veracruz, Mexico. This will no doubt be great news for Mexican Tool fans, who have waited a long time for them to play in their country. Update: Blair has confirmed the date on Toolband Details are sketchy and by no means confirmed, but here’s the poster:

Adam posts 3D printing video

Adam posted an interesting video on Facebook today. It seems to show some form of 3D printing, and includes the caption “A hail stone storm ~ New Pre Production ~ thank you #Ultimaker3dPrinter“. Not sure if this is in any way Tool related, but the video does seem to show the subject of the printing, and while it’s quite vague, it could well be the head of some type of… Read More »Adam posts 3D printing video

Waiting for new Tool music is as tedious for Maynard as it is Tool fans

As is the norm, Tool news arrived while I wasn’t able to post it (this time in transit between Indonesia and Australia), so I apologise for the slight delay getting this article online. Anyway, Maynard spoke with Rolling Stone recently (not sure how recently) where he talks about writing with his fellow Tool members as a tedious process: “I don’t write the music. They write the music,” he says of… Read More »Waiting for new Tool music is as tedious for Maynard as it is Tool fans

Billy Howerdel chats with Alternative Nation

Fourtheye forum member Brett asked us for some questions for Billy a few days back, and he’s delivered some answers as part of his interview with the Perfect Circle guitar player. There are even a few Tool related ones: My last question, I’ll admit a Tool question again, you mentioned in a recent interview again that Maynard is in full Tool mode and that’s why he can’t do [a new… Read More »Billy Howerdel chats with Alternative Nation

Peter Grenader on Danny’s Toolbox Synth

I was lucky enough to receive an email from Peter Grenader from Electro-acoustic Research over the weekend, who offered to give Fourtheye readers some exclusive insight into the Toolbox Synth that he designed for Danny prior to the recent Australia/NZ/Japan Tool tour. I met Danny Carey through Skinny Puppy’s cEvin Key, who I had partnered with on the reissue of two of our modules – the Model 15 VCO and… Read More »Peter Grenader on Danny’s Toolbox Synth

BIlly chats with Rolling Stone about Stone & Echo

An interview with Billy Howerdel from A Perfect Circle today by Greg Prato at Rolling Stone. Billy chats about the Greatest Hits album, By And Down, the Red Rocks shows, Ashes Divide and APC’s future plans. I’m sure the highlight for many of you will be this: What about future recording plans with APC? I hope to, but I know Maynard is in full Tool mode right now. They’re writing… Read More »BIlly chats with Rolling Stone about Stone & Echo

Tool Songwriting Update

It’s been a while since we’ve had any solid answers on how songwriting is going with Tool, and today Blair has an update on Toolband for us: TOOL MAKING HEADWAY WITH NEW MATERIAL A couple of weeks ago I visited the Tool loft to try and get some kind of idea as to how things were progressing with the writing sessions now that the band was back hard at it.… Read More »Tool Songwriting Update

My Tool Top 10: #1 Aenema

Many of you have already worked out what the number one in my Tool Top 10 is by using your powers of deduction. The same powers that you use to pull the mystery clues from each of Blair’s newsletters. Number one is of course Aenema. To be honest the top 3 tracks on my list (Third Eye, Lateralus and Aenema) are pretty much interchangeable. There’s a number of reasons I… Read More »My Tool Top 10: #1 Aenema
