Tool have confirmed they they are playing 6 dates in the Asia Pacific region during April & May of 2013. Dates confirmed so far include four in Australia, one in New Zealand and one in Japan. At this stage no further shows are expected to be announced for this tour.

This page is to help Fourtheye readers by providing them with general information regarding the shows, ticket sales and venues. Australian & New Zealand Leg

On the 6th of February Frontier Touring announced:

“The Frontier Touring Company announce the return of triple Grammy® award winning Californian prog-rockers Tool to Australia and New Zealand in 2013. Taking time from recording their highly anticipated fifth studio album, vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor will be performing a series of headline shows across Australia and New Zealand this May.

Since the release of their debut LP Undertow almost 20 years ago, Tool have achieved remarkable critical acclaim and commercial success for both their studio releases and phenomenal live performances:

‘A symphony of distorted bliss and polyrhythmic elegance that’s as complex as it is catchy.’ – ArtistDirect

‘To know and love Tool is to know and love an intense multi-dimensional sound that reaches beyond a simple audio experience.’ – Examiner

Tool have perfected a genre-transcending sound that can be likened to fine art, interlaced with atypical time signatures, intricate drumming patterns and a resonance with a force that awakens the senses. Beyond their groundbreaking sonic work, Tool have also come to prominence for their efforts in unifying the arts. Some of their countless contributions to the arts include the Grammy® award winning 3D album packaging for 10,000 Days, music videos that stand alone as pieces of cinematic brilliance and live shows that include elaborate lighting installations, spectacular laser displays and video displays as brilliant as the performances themselves.
The last time that Tool toured Australian shores, audiences were left entranced and enthralled by the awesome power and impact of a performance from the faultless quartet:
‘Just before they reach the song’s emotional height they take a left-turn into the extended instrumental version. It makes for one final surprise before Tool clock off for the night, no doubt having blown thousands of tiny minds in the process. I know the feeling.’ – The Vine

‘It’s these moments that separate Tool from the chasing pack, something quite intensely breathtaking to draw the crowd out of melody induced catatonia, this ability that suddenly makes hypnotic punters stand up and pay attention.’ – FasterLouder

Don’t miss the multi-sensory experience that is a performance by groundbreaking musicians Tool. With anticipation high and the promise of one of the first tastes of their much-awaited upcoming album, tickets will not last long!”

Presales are via the Frontier Tool page. You will need to register prior to the presale date (February 14). Once registered and logged in you will notice a presale section on the left of the screen. You will notice a presale password (unique for each user) and a button which says “Visit my presale link”. Once presales are open, use this link to purchase tickets.

It’s also worth noting that you’ll probably need to be registered on the ticketing site in question (Ticketek for Australia, Ticketmaster for New Zealand). My advice is register with both Frontier and the ticketing agency sooner rather than later.

Here’s some further tips from Frontier:

Frontier’s tips for a smooth path to pre-sale happiness
TIP ONE: Our best piece of advice is plan early for a pre-sale. Where possible don’t leave it to the day of the pre-sale to become a Frontier Member or a member of the ticketing agency. If you have problems joining we may not be able to help you before the pre-sale starts.

TIP TWO: Existing Frontier Members will be sent a pre-sale ecard with information relating to the pre-sale. Keep it somewhere safe and you can go straight from the email to buy (remember to note your password!) at the commencement of the pre-sale. Easy!

TIP THREE: If you’re a new Frontier Member and haven’t received your email, or if you’re an existing Member and haven’t received your email, then visit the relevant tour page and click on the pre-sale tab (please note you must be logged in). The pre-sale tab will display your pre-sale information for you. We suggest you email yourself your info (click on the email icon) – that way you can head straight to the ticketing website for the commencement of the pre-sale!

TIP FOUR: READ the pre-sale FAQ. It may seem long and boring, but they’re common questions that we’ve refined over many pre-sales!

TIP FIVE: Be patient. During popular pre-sales the ticketing sites may become congested. This is common on large shows and all we can recommend is that you keep trying the link until you get through.

TIP SIX: The BIGGEST tip of all! Make sure you note your Frontier Members pre-sale password down. You’ll need it to enter the password protected area of the ticketing site. The ticketing websites shouldn’t be case sensitive but if you are having issues please try entering the password exactly as you see it appear on your email/computer screen.

Toolarmy Presales

At time of writing Blair has been unable to confirm if there will be Toolarmy presales. At this stage it’s a reasonable assumption that there won’t be, but if that changes I will post any relevant information here.

Fans in Sydney and Melbourne are strongly encouraged to get tickets as soon as they go on sale, as I expect both will sell quickly. Especially Melbourne! I like the format you’ve made hb, regarding this page…it’s straightforward, easy to follow…
you should keep it for the other up coming legs of the 10K tour…or maybe a new tour if that ever happens etc. . .

Hey friends down under. I hope you all get to make the shows I saw them on their mini tour in Dallas last summer I guess. Took my buddy who hadn’t seen them since the club days and didn’t even know about their live show. His mind was sufficiently blown. They were incredible, you shoudl have a blast.
