Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
What's with the constant baiting Cal to try start a political argument in so many of your comments? Do you do this in real life or more just an online thing?
I sure as shit do care when the album comes out, fuck been waiting for it for years. More just that it's out of my control and there isnt anything you can do other than say it will be ready when it's ready. Given APC announced a 4/20 release date around early Feb youd assume an announcement has to be close and what a glorious fucking day that will be

People get really worked up over a few words. The album will be out in a couple of months time. Release dates are probably as much in the hands of the record label as they are the band, so I can't say I'm surprised or shocked that there isn't one yet. Add onto that the other things that need to happen in regards to the release - artwork, marketing, promotions, interviews, photo shoots, magazine exclusives etc. Many variables, and much expectation on a guy who clearly isn't a PR person. He's more like us, just keen to show something is happening. Maybe it's not "professional", but after 30 years I'm not sure we should expect different.
We're all assuming the album is done btw, perhaps it's not.
Also, I suspect Maynard would have debunked this already if it were not a thing.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
What if when the album finally drops, it's either "really difficult" or just not very good? Is it ok to get worked up then??

No real problem with people getting worked up. My point is more of an observation than a criticism.Calfium Jay wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:37 pm What if when the album finally drops, it's either "really difficult" or just not very good? Is it ok to get worked up then??

Simple self preservation tells me to just wait and see. To me, it’s pointless to get excited about yet more rumors. If it’s out in April, May whatever. If it’s not, bummer, but again, whatever. It’s closer now, than any time over the last decade, right? Progress.

Yeah I don't understand the negativity. Even when we are so close to it being here there is still people complaining. I am relieved to know that Maynard has done his vocals. It's in the can, the hard part is over for them. They must be having a blast in these final stages of the process, getting to see the finished product of all their painstaking work over the last decade. I'm sure it has been an incredible journey creatively for them and I get the sense they are all extremely satisfied with the outcome.
I don't know about any of you but the last decade has been an incredible period of growth spiritually for me. The lack of Tool music has left me hungry to find other bands and discover other types of music that can fulfill me on that level, which has made realize how much great music there is that has stretched across the decades and spread all throughout the world; it is astounding.
Even if Tool didn't have an album coming I would be fine without it. It's a bonus that we get yet another brilliant piece of music to add to the lexicon of brilliant music that already exists. We should be grateful. I think we all have come around to appreciate 10,000 Days in it's own rite. For me personally, each Tool album has been challenging to listen to at first, but there was always something there that kept me coming back. The kind of music you crave like a drug. The more I listened to it, the more I liked it. I do think it's good!

It is batshit insane to think of the changes in my life in every way since the last Tool album. Absolutely thrilled to experience another entirely new album from them with all the new context and appreciation I've gained for heavy music (and life experience in general) since the last one. I still remember vividly the first time sitting down to listen to 10K Days.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.

For me, the only thing that could somewhat diminish this album is Nardo's lyrics. Of course the music is going to be amazing I have no doubts there, but I hope Jim doesn't go on any old man rants which he seems to be doing with the other two bands.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Maynard has always been somewhat preachy and ranty. Remember when he told us religion was bad on Opiate? No one really complained then. Not sure why people think this is a recent thing. What has changed is the political climate, and I understand why people are somewhat fed up with being told what to do.Sprout wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 3:02 pm For me, the only thing that could somewhat diminish this album is Nardo's lyrics. Toolarmy has been semi-broken for me for a while now (blurred text and such). Amateur hour continues on the Tool websites.

Was Stinkfist just assrock? Was Ænima just assrock? Was Prison Sex just assrock? How about 4°? I don't think so. It sounds like you are marginalizing assrock, and I don't like it.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
im sure the guys know it better then i do, but if release date is april/may, when are they gonna drop the opiate video (and pot video? is that project still something?), 10kdays vinyl, and EPs from new album?
these stuff should have arrived on christmas 2018 or something...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Great point.
Where is the promotional shit before the new album, I guess one could argue it's the Opiate reissue.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Would seem kinda counter productive to release an old song when promoting a new album.. maybe that was the curveball all along?
I'd assume and hope for a new song film clip as promo for the album and that other stuff If ever sees the light of day they can add as bonus gear when they charge us 27 legs for a live DVD.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
If they feel the need to release it in near immediate future I'm all for it. I more meant if they release just that and then dont have a promo ready to go for a new song fairly soon then kinda poor form. It's not like they havent had time to sort this shit out.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Who knows what'll happen, but if Tool want to hold back the entire album until release day, then my bet would be we'll see the Opiate video released to build H Y P E
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
The end of this Toolarchive video where Adam talks about Opiate is interesting actually - I haven't come across it before:
Doesn't really give much insight as to when it'll be released though!

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
...and again raises the question why you would put so much effort into the video (fly to london etc) just to NOT release it in the end....crazy
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Maybe the final result wasn’t up to Adam’s standard/expectation?
I am surprised there’s been nothing released since the Opiate reissue, and that they didn’t include the vid then. That would have been the time, assuming it was ready.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
they may be saving everything except their last album they are obligated to release under their contract with Volcano. If they did that then they would be able keep all of the profits from the sales of the Opiate music video & The Pot music video. I have read before that they have recorded most of their concerts as well. I think its likely that we will see some random tool stuff coming out more often when they are out of their shitty record deal.
