Re: Movie/TV News
The Hobbit feels SO tired by now. Even I'm bored of it. That same "cookie cutter Middle Earth" look, that same overly emotional dramatic pathos, the same Shakespeare for dummies dialogue, the same characters, the same.......that same everything.
And the trailer is so mopey and emo, even My Chemical Romance fans are cackling.
"The future of Middle Earth hangs in the balance.......AGAIN!!"
But yeah....I'll end up seeing it anyway.

I definitely see what you're saying but I think it has more to do with the fact that they stretched it out over 3 years. Peter Jackson still did an excellent job with the first two movies. I'm still excited, I mean what else do we have to look forward to until May 2015 starts the onslaught of next years blockbusters? I'm sure there will be a few good indie flicks between now and then but as for epic's? this is it. can't fuck with Return Of The King but it should still be entertaining.Calfium Jay wrote:The Hobbit feels SO tired by now. You never saw Blow?
Which reminds me I have to watch The Rum Diaries, if only because it's directed by Bruce Robinson.

Has anybody posted this one yet?
Looks like yet another blockbuster SFX flick with a crappy story and marginal acting. I'll likely still watch it, but won't be expecting much.

I remember seeing a trailer for that some time ago. It looked awful then, and it looks awful now. Pass...

Good grief. I didn't bother to watch Captain America. I think you are kidding yourself if you think this doesn't have as much potential as a marvel franchise movie.hellboy wrote:I remember seeing a trailer for that some time ago. It looked awful then, and it looks awful now. Pass...
I will definitely watch it.

I don't remember comparing it to a marvel franchise movie, but now you mention it, it does look as bad as most of them.liz wrote:Good grief. I didn't bother to watch Captain America. I will watch anything the Wachowskis make. Even when they whiff, it's still more interesting than 99% of other sci-fi blockbuster type films.

Christoph Waltz is the newest Bond villain!!!
I thought Skyfall was excellent. Mr. Mendes is back at it, and god bless the casting director. THE JEW HUNTER!!!!

.
I could care less about any of these movies... haven't seen any of the previous ones, but I figured some of you would appreciate this infographic.

I watched a cool sci-fi the other week called Coherence. It's well worth a look. Small budget, no effects, just a good yarn.

Sounds interesting, The Stand is one of my favorite books, though I'm not sure how well it translates onto the big screen (the TV mini-series was ok, I guess, but nothing amazing):

Dark Tower was good, but I always preferred The Stand personally.N.Y.H.C. wrote:and still the Dark Tower gets kicked to the side of the road once again. they have truly forgotten the face of their fathers.hellboy wrote:Sounds interesting, The Stand is one of my favorite books, though I'm not sure how well it translates onto the big screen (the TV mini-series was ok, I guess, but nothing amazing):

Re: Movie/TV News
I don't know if The Stand should be broken up into 4 movies. I feel like the second and third movies would be kinda boring.
