Best Tool live clips
Re: Best Tool live clips
my absolute favourite live bootleg from Tool is "Hartford, CT - 09-22-'01"
sometimes shaky but not too often, audio and video is decent, but the overall atmosphere of the concert, the members, the attitude, the setlist, the visual, the extended end of eulogy and disposition (!)...everything
i dont know what the fuck they dropped before this show, but its the strongest performance i have ever seen from them
you can find it on youtube, not the best quality but the mojo still shines through

^ agreed. I've seen these all before and they are some of the best I've seen on YouTube. Gives me fucking goosebumps. It's quite bizarre (and sad) what we TOOL fans call quality live video clips when you compare it with proper PRO shots. The only PRO shot I've seen is Sober that was taken somewhere in Europe back in 94 I think? It would kick ass if that whole show was recorded.

excellent find. I've never seen this show before._peterpwn wrote:and i've found this shit today... what the fuck, seriously, never heard the grudge so strong in my life, and the sun going down during disposition, the second track fucking you right in the face... no more spoilers, check it out
Asteroids do not concern me, Admiral. I want that ship, not excuses.
Re: Best Tool live clips
Not sure if you meant to, but that vid is the Tuva intro only. That aside, yes, this is indeed one of the best Tool shows out there. I have the full DVD bootleg (old school piracy!) and it has always been and remains my pound for pound favorite. Would literally give up a testicle (possibly a kidney?) to be able to go back in time and see this show at will._peterpwn wrote:my absolute favourite live bootleg from Tool is "Hartford, CT - 09-22-'01"

Re: Best Tool live clips
this link shows me Intro/Tuva, then the rest of the evening on the right corner, dissected, but in order
anyway, the other stuff i've found today is a video that became my fav. 10kdays tour bootleg video of all time
it has 350.000 views, so probably it was new only to me
everyone is spot on, visual is amazing, sound is pretty good and the setlist is one of the most bizarre setlists ive seen from them
the intermission stuff before flood is just out of this world, its one of the best jamms, if not the best jam ive heard from tool live

Oberhausen 2006 was really good. If they had played 46&2 as they played it there at any previous venue it would've been the best song of the show.
Re: Best Tool live clips
Whoever runs the 'Toolarchive' channel on youtube does a good job of sourcing good quality footage or interviews. In cases where the audio is a bit dodgy, he (she) appears to run it through their DAW with some cool plugins to clean up the hiss (or boom) and enhance it... I generally do a search every Friday or Saturday and have a look at any new footage they have posted...

For example, I listened to this last night (being well wasted) and it sounded awesome...

Anyone here know why he just walked away? Nonetheless, cool version of it. Never heard it this way before. He walks away around the 6:07 mark.

Seems he was losing his voice or something?
He missed some lines earlier before departure.
Gosh darn it, time to listen to Lateralus.

I wonder what goes on behind the stage when he's there and what the band talks about during the intermission.

"I certainly would've walked away by now...", and then walked off. He didn't wait it out!

I find this particular show to be very unique. I have not seen Maynard that active and "in the zone" since 2002. The video is very shaky though, but it's worth the watch. [BBvideo 560,340][/BBvideo]

Re: Best Tool live clips
My first Tool show. Fripp's soundscape and Lateralus are missing. Wish I could find the whole thing. Im just glad I'm able to finally see this again. The crowd sucked, but the acoustics were pristine. The band really brought it that night.

If a good video of the Houston 2014 show ever comes out you'll see Maynard still knows how to go nuts... Dude didn't stop moving around and tripping out the whole damn show.. It ''twas quite the flashback
