Tool USA Tour 2016

Post by hellboy »

Just pre-empting what will be much discussion on the tour by creating the appropriate thread.

No word on dates, venues, etc at this stage. I'd like to think this time around it won't be just focused on the West Coast though, but we'll see.
SOMETHING WICKED THIS… YOUR WAY COMES!

For those of you who only like NEWS about TOOL, here’s something that should be of great interest. The impenetrable veil of my dark scrying mirror FINALLY CLEARED today – enough so, in fact – that I could perceive a large heptagram on a complexly lit stage where four performers were dwarfed by dramatic video projections. Evidently the sonic and visual extravaganza that I was receiving is a rare glimpse of future TOOL U.S.A. TOUR DATES in the month of JANUARY, 2016 e.v. However, with some of the images in the depths of the black glass not being clearly distinct… YET, fans will have to keep checking back (SOON) on the Tool websites and Tool facebook page for an official announcement containing a list of the SHOW DATES, CITIES and VENUES, as well as for info about a tour support act(s). Regarding an opening band(s), what I was able to discern through the ever-shifting veil will in all likeliness be exciting to many Tool enthusiasts. STAY TUNED, FOLKS… as my trusty SCRYING MIRROR CONTINUES TO CLEAR…

I know it's very "toolio" of me but it still surprises me how happy it makes me feel that I can potentially see them in a couple of months.

I'm hoping they come somewhere close by, but that's unlikely.

Aren't you on the east coast ish? My guess is that's where this tour will focus on because they haven't really been in the last few.

Maybe the photo Adam posted the other day gives us a hint at the support act - Fantomas?

Wouldn't that also hint at The Melvins then?

Yeah, but the closest place they'll probably hit is NYC and I don't think I'll really be able to afford that trip come January. Nor am I all that inclined on making that trip alone considering the last time I traveled in that direction I ended up in a pretty nasty car accident.

As disappointing as it is, I don't think we'll ever see another Tool/Melvins tour. Buzzo doesn't like to play big stadiums.

In my opinion, should ISIS choose to reform I suspect they would rather play venues that suit them than to a disinterested Tool crowd.

Yeah, and he's said that they're now at a point where they don't need to be doing Stadium tours anymore.

I agree with this. ISIS is a band I would much prefer to see in a club than in a stadium. Doesn't seem like it fits their sound really.

What's the percentage that this is a mini tour for the new album, 20%, 10%? I am sure that it's probably 0% but didn't they say they weren't doing a extensive tour until the album is complete? A fan boi can dream, right?

Maybe 5% if you include the snippets they've played so far.

There's no real evidence that Tool are far enough along to debut a new song in it's entirety.

They would have debuted a new song on Halloween if they had one.

Word on the street is the dates will be announced Monday with on sale Friday. Atlanta is late January, so it appears to be an east coast tour.

I enjoy Gwinnett better. It sounds better than Philips and besides, we have the best tailgating at Gwinnett. There would be more people in this pic, but we forgot to take it sooner. We had about 50 people at the last one.
