What are you watching? Film/TV
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
War for the Planet of the Apes - 9/10, this franchise gets no fucking love while being better than most of the capeshit and star bores films that come out

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
The movie got almost universal acclaim, so not sure it got "no fucking love"
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
I mean in terms of discussion as an actual franchise

So you'd rather the movies be marketed more towards children/teens?

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
The reason people talk so much about the comic book/star wars franchises is because they have that mass appeal. The planet of the apes movies don't seem to have that more family-friendly appeal to them and so people don't talk about them as much. Besides the fact that Star Wars and comic book have had years to build their audiences.
Personally I don't think people really talking about those movies all the time and hyping them up makes them more enjoyable. They seemed to be doing well enough to have sequels made. That should be good enough. I feel like having a huge audience just means you have to appeal to more people which results in less creative risks which means less interesting movies.

Not sure why you guys are trying to argue, it was a simple rhetorical question due to the quality of a film I just watched vs the trash that gets discussed among us nerds, just a frustrated question with an obvious answer, trash gets celebrated.
Sorry I didn't point that out earlier, I thought it was obvious.

People like what they like. Star Wars is a long way from trash. At least we're not getting all excited over Ben Affleck Batman or anything.

Watched Ready Player One. Definitely a "at the movies movie" . Enjoyed it for what it was, not alot of dull moments as far as actions concerned. Good to see Spielberg having fun again for what seems a while

New season of Archer looks to have promise. Wasn't a big fan of them going completely film noir last season. Hopefully this season gets them back to being funny again.

Finished up the Lost in Space reboot on Netflix not too long ago. Pretty well done. Another really great Netflix original to check out is Altered Carbon. Also finished up the first two seasons of AMC's Into the Badlands.
