You warmed the cockles of my heart just now, I want you to know this.

And get fucked I had no idea Khruangbin released a new one this year. On first song now, I may need to amend my list haha.

And yeh I had Fat Freddys on there until the last minute and realised it was my love for the band and not the album itself that had it there so left it out. Better than their last effort but still falls short.

haha. its great we do have similar tastes my friend! Fat Freddy's been hit and miss for a couple of album cycles now.

Off the back of my last post...

Someone on the front page of Fourtheye mentioned a band called Alcest...and yes thank you a very good album and now straight onto the shortlist.

So a few more to the list are:

Alcest - Spritual Instinct (Post-Rock, if you like Isis...get on this!)
Bask - III (Americana, Stoner Rock, Post-Rock and Psychedelic)
Dub Trio - The Shape of Dub To Come (thanks Hellboy - had listened to this album, but your list reminded me of it)

It's Sunday and what more do you need than some musical cigars....

It warms the cockles of my heart to see some of the bands I've shared on here to make it into your lists for the year.

I love Khruangbin but it's just remixes of their older material. I don't think it's eligible for the AOTY.

I'm still putting together my list for this year. I've missed so much since a good portion of my listening time this year has been dedicated to TooL.
Thanks all for your lists and suggestions.

So nice to see that Nick Cave and the bad seed's - Ghosteen made the fourtheye final ten - well technically 11 I guess because we all know who won. And thanks for your lists those conscientious enough to put them here, still so much I haven't listened to and despite some of the top ten albums I still think some people here have great picks!

I'm looking forward to HB's list and it better have Death Atlas on it.

Cheers for the heads up, didn't know the 10 had been published. Link below for anyone else like me that never checks the homescreen.

Surprised to see theres enough slipknot fans on here to get them into the top 10.

Slipknot get voted in every time they release an album, so I'm not as surprised as you are! Thankfully Korn didn't get the same kudos.

Fourtheye top 10s typically tend to represent the most popular bands, more than the best albums. I can't say I was surprised to see Opeth despite it not being their best work at number 1 - they are popular among Tool fans.

I was surprised to see Leprous and Alcest in the list though.

Tool tour Europe for the first time in decades and suddenly a top ten album list for a Tool fan site has a strong European contingent, makes sense to me.

I'm mainly disappointed that villagers of ioannina city missed out, followed closely by Tool. I would have thought they'd come close to making top 10, but I guess that's what happens when you keep your fans in the dark for so long.

So people failed to vote in the poll but posted here weren't included? (Obviously I guess)

Because just off the top of my head Lightning Bolt, Clipping & Freddie Gibbs/Madlib got more than one vote in this thread alone.

I guess it's the silent majority voting for Korn and Dream Theater.

Correct, you had to use the poll. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Don't vote for Fear Inoculum though, as I won't be counting those (we all know it'd win).
Im guessing your being facetious with that apology, coz seemed pretty clear to me.

Just thought if you were going to post your list here, you'd vote in the official thread as well.

Guess I can call out Liz and Bill Hilly for not voting officially either unless there is some sort of conspiracy afoot.

Liz did vote informally, just after I closed the poll, however her votes made no difference except for the fact that Lightning Bolt would have appeared in above list.

None of Bill's voted would have made a difference either, and I suspect that's why he didn't bother. Why vote when you just get Trump or Opeth winning anyway?
