I had lentil curry as well and it was excellent!Calfium Jay wrote:The lentil curry I had for dinner last night was better than the artwork for the new U2 album.

Still don't care what they say, this isn't "Pink Floyd".
Having said that, I'll still give this a listen.

Re: Pink Floyd
The album is officially out, by the way. Weird that it's on a Monday.
At least on my Rhapsody it is.
Barely started hearing it right now.

Re: Pink Floyd
It's pretty solid. Mostly instrumental though, which kinda caught me off guard. Not that I expected a massive work of literature from a Gilmore-led Floyd.
It's well worth at least one listen in case anyone here wasn't curious enough about it as it is.
At first listen I'd say 7/10. Didn't knock my socks off, drags at times, but it was mostly entertaining.

Re: Pink Floyd
This is their most exciting album since The Wall, I think. Nothing like this since Ummagumma.

My guess is that you'll like it more than me. And I like it.Naattik wrote:Just starting it now...

I'm kind of terrified to listen to this. I keep putting it off.
Re: Pink Floyd
I was pretty pessimistic about it and I liked it.
Still don't like that this band is called "Pink Floyd "

Re: Pink Floyd
Well I genuinely enjoy most of the other two Gilmour-led albums so I'm kind of over that particular hurdle.

A Momentary Lapse of Reason is a beautiful album.

I saw the Australian tour for that album, it was an awesome show and subsequently I have a lot of nostalgia with that album. Like Joey I have no problem with a Gilmour led Floyd and I'm looking forward to playing this.lo7us wrote:Really?limeygringo wrote:This is their most exciting album since The Wall, I think. Re: Pink Floyd
I've listened a couple of times now. Agreed that it's not earth shattering. Actually I would not ever include this in a conversation of how it compares to any other Floyd album, including post-Waters. It doesn't compare, full stop. It's just filler. Pleasant enough though.
I only ever got to see a Water-less Floyd live (had a chance to see the Wall as a lad, but regrettably I blew it). I thoroughly enjoyed both shows (might have been 3, can't remember). Also loved seeing Waters and Gilmour solo tours over the years immensely.

Oh yeah! I saw that tour in Milwaukee. I was a Junior or senior in high school. Was tripping my balls off. One of the best shows that I have ever experienced.liz wrote:I saw the Australian tour for that album, it was an awesome show and subsequently I have a lot of nostalgia with that album. It's one of those albums where not a single song sucks, but there also isn't a single song that makes you go "YES!".Naattik wrote:I've listened a couple of times now. After a couple of listens I'd agree that it isn't even Division Bell level, but I do like it.

Re: Pink Floyd
Don't get me wrong, I do like the Post-Waters stuff. But there were moments on The Endless River that really surprised me. Not in an innovative way, but in a evolutionary way for the band. It sounds more like what Floyd was doing up to Wish You Were Here, because after that it was either Waters running the show or, in the post-Waters era, song-by-committee/overreaching for the "song" over the groove. They've even said this album represents the rediscovery of their palette in 1993, but they decided to move forward with Division Bell instead because they felt they needed to have great lyrics and the music kind of took the sideline because of that. For me, it's awesome to hear them close out on something more akin to Echoes and Atom Heart Mother than simply another Post-Waters record.lo7us wrote:Really?limeygringo wrote:This is their most exciting album since The Wall, I think. Re: Pink Floyd
This is a good album and I'm glad they released it. However, I see Pink Floyd ending with Animals. That's the last one with their sound. Once you get into the wall and post-waters stuff, I can't call that Pink Floyd or at least the same PF. But then Piper isn't really them either, they haven't become who they were and they are no longer that. Lol.

Kind of surprised nobody has mentioned this:

The vid is cool, but the song is just OK.
Apparently, he's touring the US in 2016, but not SF this time unfortunately. I would have definitely gone, but I'm not traveling to see him. Hopefully he adds SF...
