Here’s a report from the Baked Potato tonight where Fourtheye reader nxrm had the chance to chat with Danny Carey:
I went to The Baked Potato tonight and caught the first set of the Doug Webb Allstars. During the break I was fortunate to talk with Danny, and I asked him how high Tool fans must be to think the band would be releasing a new album prior to this upcoming tour. He laughed and said, “They can believe whatever they want, but it’s not gonna happen.” He added, and I’m condensing/paraphrasing here, that they hope to get into the studio to record in the Fall.
So there we go – can we stop speculating about the new album coming out this tour? Â It seems to be pretty rampant on Reddit and other places. Â I’d love to be wrong and have an album in our hands in June (or even this year) but I can’t see it happening.
I don’t think either Tool or A Perfect Circle have recorded anything yet, and given that the members are tied up in tours for each band, as well as the wine harvest I don’t see any kind of recording happening prior to October. Â This being the case I don’t think we should expect an album from either band until 2018, something Maynard has alluded to in a few Twitter posts lately.
Apparently the “guest” at the San Bernadino show was confirmed as well, but I’ve been asked to keep that one close to my chest. It’s not anyone that I’ve seen guessed previously, but will say it’s an older band that has been cited as an influence by Tool members in the past.
