children wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 3:41 pm Yeah, Mog, you are right most of the time.

Like you were right about Tool not having what it takes to outdo their previous work.

And how you were right about this new record not even coming at all.

You gave up on Tool several years and then you came back to admit you were wrong about Tool being irrelevant.

Not saying this is definitely not Tool's last, but you have been wrong about Tool before. No reason why you can't be wrong this time.

Even when Danny slows down he can still play drums. You don't need to be quick to have a nice groove. Maynard can still sing songs that suit his voice. A mellowed out Tool in the future suits me. I enjoy the softer and sweeter, more introspective side of Tool as much as the mind bending psychedelia. I will take whatever the band feels like putting out and be open minded to any changes in their sound that come along.

Regardless of whether this is the last, let's enjoy it. I am looking forward to them putting out Salival part 2 more than anything, and for whatever else they have in store once this new one is out of the way.

Anything that happens after is gravy, brothers and sisters.
Never said the album was not going to come out. Never said Tool were going to become irrelevant.

Only thing I did say was I didn’t expect them to be able to reach a Lateralus type level again and on Descending they absolutely do and that did surprise me and I said as much.

But in terms of the delays, reasons for delays, and general Tool bullshitery I called it right many many years ago.

This will be their last new full length album. Unreleased shit, live DVD possibly. Please no Tool movie god I couldn’t imagine listening to Adam drone on about the “process” and I don’t want to listen to Maynard talk about anything I can’t stand the guy.

Swan song this is it hopefully it is a great album. You Tool lovers can wax poetic about how much you love Tool I will enjoy the music while still being disgusted with them. You guys can plan entire vacations around shows and spend thousands on merch they will get my digital purchase but fuck seeing them live they don’t deserve my money.

I said in Discord proper payback for the clusterfuck that has been this album release cycle would be if everyone DELAYED buying the album for a few years. Let those fellas see what it feels like. Of course it will never happen but oh would it be poetic justice.
Yeah I will get a ticket to the first show near me if I can afford it because they are still incredible live and are sounding better than they have since 10k came out. You are the only one missing out, Mog.

Nobody cares if you don't want to see them live or give them any more money besides the new album that you declared hundreds of times you weren't going to purchase.

And yeah I guess you were right about the delays; it's been 13 years. We all were very aware that the album had been delayed over and over again. We didn't need you to constantly remind us as well.

if thats a delay i cant imagine whats up when the bait is truely flowing! haha.

that reminds me of the old days right now. you need those electrical rods to get worms. ever see people use those ? you stick them in the ground and they give off a slight hum and the worms hate it and rise to the surface of the grass and you pick your worms. its not enough voltage to harm anyone and of course everyone got zapped once in awhile by someone else screwing around :) fun times! haha

it works. you get a lot of worms that way. i havent heard of seen that done in a long time.

I feel like this is definitely the last studio album we'll get, simply because by extrapolation, the next one is going to take at least 2 decades.

I'd be cool with them touring the catalog for the rest of their careers, releasing shit like a live DVD or another Salival along the way

I think it's probably the last album. Hopefully they are willing to still tour after this, I'd love to see them live again!

Well after reading the latest interviews it sounds like we are very lucky indeed that they held it together to get this one done. Danny and Maynard are up for another if they get on with it sooner rather than later. Justin sounds jaded to fuck but I'm sure he'd be up for it if they promised to just get on with the fucker. It's just Adam who it seems is too set in his ways to change his methods. And to be fair that's up to him. I've slagged him loads in the past but fuck it we all have our own weird quirks. Human beings are weird creatures. Sad to think we might not get another but let's enjoy this new one for a bit before we get too down about that eh!

This is hilarious.

M0G, what bothers you more, their apparent "true artists never ship" ethos, or Maynard's utter disgust for anyone that ever paid him attention or money?

(I've written this with a humorous bent, but these are genuine questions).

..it was either an interview with Danny or that leaked Cleveland VIP (I cant recall) where DC mentions that once they fulfill their "record contract" that they may start releasing live material that way they get "to keep all of the money". I'd bank on some sort of live "thing" before another studio album..

I'm counting on a few live albums, or even a dozen or two or three box sets full of live recordings and all sorts of other bonus material that good be in the vault. I would rather have that than any dumb new album. Live is where the real magic is at for me... that said... can Fear Incorporated leak already!

I think a dozen is wayyyy too high but a live dvd wouldn’t surprise me. I also really hope that Opiate rework is released at some point. Would also love to see them release Salival digitally not sure why they left that one out.

Regardless don’t imagine we will see anything for a few years it is gonna be Fear Inoculum and them touring for awhile. When they finally wind down from this release/tour cycle I would think then they would start looking at things they might release.

Who knows in 9 days we have a new album to check out. The 30th is gonna be an interesting day for sure.

I have a feeling Adam is going to turn into Lucas and just tinker around the edges with the old material, like they did with Opiate.

Release all the videos in 4k, remastered Undertow & Aenima, the requisite live shit and heck maybe a Garage Days type release, with what they did with Zep imagine what else they could do.

Oh and a pinball machine!
