New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
7empest would be the best way to open the show but I'm going with Gravity.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I guess they weren't going to eat up 15 minutes of a festival set with 7empest.
Now we wait another 2 days.

Kinda surprised they did three Aenima songs but no Schism.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Maynard sang mitosis to soon (Adam noticed Right away) Almost sang Warrior to early in Invincible.
Some more shows in and they'll sound great.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
More old songs in the setlist than I expected tbh. Surprised they played several older songs over Descending.
Not so surprised they didnt play 7empest, but I hope it gets a run at some point

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I am pretty excited to see them replace one or two of those songs with Descending and 7empest. Today's show is probably the first since Lateralus came out that they did NOT play Schism. I swear I have seen that song at every show I've seen since 2001 and I cannot think of a show where they haven't played it this millennium...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Not playing 7empest would be like touring Aenima and not playing Third Eye, COME ON!

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Back in 2006 at Coachella (first show) they didn't play Rosetta Stoned at all but then opened with it two nights later in Seattle.
If they open their show in Denver on Tuesday night with 7empest it will be pretty special. I'd love to be on the floor when they come out on stage and just start their show with the first guitar part of 7empest; that would be nuts!

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Didn't realise they were playing a festival first up. I figure it'll be FI for the entire tour or failing that 7empest at sideshows.
And Hboy fair to think they'll swap out some staples at their own shows compared to festivals I guess.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Like I predicted earlier, 7empest will be near the end of the set for their club shows, not the last song, but towards the end, like D/R/T was.

With nude acrobatic contortionists swinging from the roof I hope. I'd also be disappointed if there wasn't at some point some sharks with fricking laser beams attached to their heads

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Even for a festival i was surprised only 3 FI tunes were played, thats lame. i get leaving descending out for a Fest with the few others but its still weird to play so little new, most people are there for Tool i assume. thank GOD schism is gone! i hope that stays this way!
they gotta play Tempest. no friggin way they cant. leave out CV but the rest is fine.
With the places that have 2 shows per city i wonder what will be diff ? most likely they will play 1 or 2 diff ones. as long as its not CV im ok with it, lol. Denver is tomorrow and Wed so will see pretty quickly what the changes for that will be. maybe its gonna be like earlier this year. part of me for intolerance or verse vica!

I will be at the 2nd Denver show. Im hesitant to look at the first nights setlist, as I want to be somewhat surprised, however I already looked at the Aftershock setlist.bob wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 4:50 am Even for a festival i was surprised only 3 FI tunes were played, thats lame. i get leaving descending out for a Fest with the few others but its still weird to play so little new, most people are there for Tool i assume. thank GOD schism is gone! i hope that stays this way!

My opinion is the setlist will vary only slightly from the festival set. I dont think they are such different venues that they will make massive changes for the arenas. Dont forget they debuted Invincible and Descending at a festival, why not do the same for 7empest? Likely cause it wont get played live for a while. I think Fear Incoculum will be the opener for the entire tour. Followed by a few older tracks from Undertow or Opiate. Invincible or Descending next, potentially both, then a Lateralus track, and end the show with Pneuma. While i hope i am wrong, why not just blow the doors off of a festival with 7empest?!
Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Not playing 7empest isn't that weird. It took really a lot of shows for them them to add 10,000 days.
Given the technical aspect of 7empest I see the same happening.
Descending will be added for sure the normal venues. Alongside CCtrip for the break.
Also: for the first time since 13 years no Schism.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
It’s my personal opinion that a song with the complexity of 7empest is impossible to perform on a nightly basis. I couldn’t imagine how taxing that song must be to play live, let alone create and record. I mean come on. It’s difficult to listen to just trying to follow along . Imo of coarse. I mean, how will they surround Adam with 11 amps to recreate the sound live??
Any veteran guitar players care to chime in on this??
Thanks and have a great day!
