- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.
- You don't like to think? What do you like?
- Never thought about it.

Finally watched The Joker today. Well shot, well acted, mostly predictable story. Glad to see they didn't fuck it up, but can't rate it more than 8/10

If Joaquin doesn't win an Oscar I will eat my hat!
9/10 minimum for me. Loved it!

The Lighthouse 10/10 Willem Dafoe acting masterclass, what a second half of the year for movies.
Canned audience laughter

It's well acted for sure - no doubt Joaquin is good at his job. As to whether it should win a Oscar or not? That's the people much wiser in the ways of acting chops to decide. I didn't see anything about his work as being a level above, or a clear cut winner.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2019 1:08 amIf Joaquin doesn't win an Oscar I will eat my hat!

To be fair though, your idea of stellar acting is Christian Bale dressed in a spandex suit talking with a gruff voice.

I'd never claim to be some kind of cinematic expert, however I know what I enjoy. I'll leave the finer art of criticism to others to whom it interests. I'm happy to post my opinions as just that though - opinions, not professional critique.
I don't think I've ever claimed Batman has been well acted, or even that Bale was the best one.
Interestingly, Bale has more Oscar nominations, and indeed victories than Joaquin. What a world we live in!

Bale was fantastic in Ferrari vs Ford which I just watched funnily enough!

Man bales Batman voice did my head in. I understood the reasons for it but still couldn't help but laugh whenever he spoke. Someone give that man a soother!

Tom Hardy's Bane voice was the worst thing I've ever heard, he was honestly taking the piss.

^The crown was really good again this season.
Two other movies that I've recently seen that are well worth anyones time are Parasite, a Korean film by the guy who did Snow Piercer, and Marriage Story with Kylo Ren.

To be fair, the character of Batman doesn't really give the actors much to work with. I didn't think Bale was really much better/worse at it than other actors who've played the role.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 1:41 am Man bales Batman voice did my head in. Yeah I felt the same, even though he got massive plaudits for his efforts. As batman he kicmed arse well but as Bruce Wayne I found Bale to be as wooden as he always is. People smarter than me reckon he's great so he must be, I just don't really see it myself.hellboy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 3:43 amTo be fair, the character of Batman doesn't really give the actors much to work with. Batman begins and ends with Adam West.
Take that to the bank.
