This meetup in Melbourne will be at 4pm on the 22nd at Beer Deluxe in Fed Square. Odd name for a bar, but apparently gets the seal of approval from a couple of Fourtheye readers - plenty of craft beers on tap, and no doubt beard stroking hipsters.

Casual drinks in a pub got my vote and seems to be the winner so far.

I know a few other lads that live down that way so nor sure what there plans will be so if they are somewhere else close to the venue means I can bounce between if need be. Bit of luck can just get them to meet wherever you lot decide to be.

Problem with the pub is that Rod Laver isn't especially close to many. Not that I'm against the walk though.

We'll work something out though! Suggestions of a venue are welcome. The Corner is an obvious candidate.

Other advantages of the BBQ is that it's less busy in that area, and BYO means cheaper drinks & food. Bit harder to make a deconstructed chicken parmie on the BBQ though

I'm with Busty. I will prioritise the meet up but have other Melbourne peeps to catch up with too. They may come along.

Plus I'll be on holidays, albeit a short one. I want someone to serve me, not have to fetch and carry for myself!

I don't think I'll be in Melb and at my hotel til about 3pm so probs wouldn't get to a meet up til about 5ish or so at which point I'd be keen to sink a few and not worry about cooking / cleaning but that's just my two Bob. I'll make sure I get there for a g'day for sure just don't know at what time so casual pub is easier is all.

There are a lot of hotels in the area, depends upon your budget really. Anything Southbank is going to be an ok walk to Rod Laver, I'm staying in Southbank and my hotel will be about a 15 min walk to the arena.

I wasn't sure whether the subject of accommodation had been discussed before & if it had, whether people were coordinating.
Chances are, people are gonna be bumping in to each other at airports, hotels etc throughout their respective journeys.
