TITS is about to kick off soon. Any setlist predictions? Two identical sets back to back? New Black Sabbath cover? Lateralus back in town? Descending and Flood seem like givens

Hope they do something special for everyone. I’d be pissed off if I got two of the same set lists with two songs mixed for that money.

TITS…

How am I just now realizing they used this juvenile acronym? Oh, yeah… I’m old and slow.

Yep, same old setlist.

And yep, what a piss poor effort to not do at least 1 or 2 treats per night. I thought for sure Lateralus would finally make a return, maybe Eulogy, 7empest but nope, same old shit.. I'm sure it was great to be there but man, anyone paying that level of money to go has already seen Stinkfist, Jambi etc enough times to justify leaving em out.

What a lame festival. Imagine paying $5,000 to go to that and thinking you’d get a unique setlist each night lol.

People spending so much money on this completly ridiculous idea got what they deserved.

Nonetheless, I really feel like "Tool" needs to retire soon.
Maynard, do your Pusc... stuff, I don't care. Danny, give you us some new Volto stuff and I will be more than happy.
Adam, Justin? Whatever...

I reckon it would have been a fun show, and if I were there I'd expect I'd have a pretty good time. Most of the complaints seem to be coming from those not at the show.

Speaking of those style of complaints however - what bugs me more than anything is that there was nothing really new or special added to the setlist - not even for one of the nights. They just swapped out songs we've seen in rotation for a while now. It just feels a little low effort for a show that cost people thousands, and was I assume mostly curated by the band.

A lot of the complaining seems to hinge on people being promised "2 unique sets". My understanding is that the promoter tagged that onto the advertising without discussing it with the band, and once they found out about it had it removed from all promo materials. It was never contracted that way.
Everyone has a right to their opinion of what the band "should have done", but it shouldn't be based on "they promised _____", since they didn't.

I didnt really pay attention to the promo myself, just feel if they were ever gonna make a gig special, this would be the one. they varied their setlist just fine between nights, im just sure the majority there would have appreciated something that hadn't been done in a long time is all.

Sadly, I imagine instead of MJK having a crack at some other older songs they've seemingly given up on, he'll likely just tell them to write new music faster if they pressure him.

I'm not sure that "unique" should be interpreted as as 2 no repeats type shows anyway. Bands like Metallica are pretty clear where this is the case. Unique just means "not the same", and it can be certainly argued that there were indeed not the same.

I suspect those disappointed are a vocal minority, joined by a whole bunch of keyboard warriors.

Anyway, onto Mexico next!

"Unique sets" or not, pretty disappointing to see the same songs being played over and over again.
Two nights in a row? Wow...bummer.

It just leaves a certain impression of the band. But where's the news here?

What's most ridiculous about all of this is talks of a lawsuit. Here is a portion of the article I just read: (Only in Murica).

With pricing for the event itself being pretty steep, not including travel to the Dominican Republic, The Law Office of Stas Rusek (out of Atlanta, GA) seems to be taking advantage and offering those who felt wronged by the band to form a class action lawsuit asking if you paid between $4,000-$10,000 for Tool In The Sand to contact them.

Rusek himself claims to not only be a huge Tool fan but someone who also attended the weekend event.

Surprised this had a promoter, I thought this was an event curated by the band. If this is the case then yeah, Tool showed up to play as per usual and the promoter was the one who mislead, still Tool should have read the room, did they expect to play to a bunch of local Dominicans?

Anyway https://ddpworldwide.com/ seem to be the promoters.

I think it's a bit dismissive to just say it's the promoters fault and a minority who were pissed off though.

If the band was aware it was advertised incorrectly by the promoter, a little communication to the fans wouldn't have hurt. I wonder how many tickets were sold off the back of that premise by the promoter?

As i said above, im sure everyone still had a great time & the carry on is over the top, but it does kinda feel something like this has been building for a long time now. We joke on here about their lack of effort in their merch , the lack of variety in setlists etc.

Would be good if something positive came from this with their sets, but I doubt it will.

On the flip side tool are about to play some of the biggest shows of their career and I bet the South American fans give zero shits about what occurred on some fancy beach resort.

Indeed. It's hard to give too many fucks about a show I didn't go to.

I love that South America are finally getting their chance to see Tool.

They didn't get a Grudge Scream, that is at least worth 500 USD

Decent summary HB by the way.

Enjoy South America!
