Word is there will be a Meshuggah Australian tour announcement soon, possible with another somewhat prominent band. No idea who, but given their recent touring partners we could perhaps make an educated guess.
if it's in the very near, chances are it won't be AAL as they're scheduled to be on your with DEP in July/Aug
Stench Bleed maybe

^ i have not heard any new good music in about 10 years. at least from new bands.
for the most part I have to agree. off the top I can only think of Intronaut and Scale The Summit. besides that outside of ten years? not even close. I know ISIS and Dillinger Escape Plan are what, 15 years? 10 years, @TA good call.

OK, fuck all of you: I'm getting REALLY FUCKING SICK of the absence of HARVEY MILK in this forum.
I can't recall anyone, ever, mentioning them. And they are, by far, the closest to SNIVLEM we have, if we didn't have SNIVLEM (bless you).
Fucking unbelievable stuff. Listen to their last one, and show me uncut wrists.
LOL.
Seriously.

Baroness
Mish
Animals As Leaders
Ghost
Red Fang
Sleep Lady
Useless Children
Those are all good bands formed within the last 10 years.
Ugh.
Apart from BARONESS, no one else on that list is worth more than a casual listen.
BANNED, in my honest opinion
MODS?!
Animals as Leaders, Red Fang, and Mish are all solid in their own way and worth a listen. Â Tosin from AAL is a fucking beast on the guitar the likes of DC on Drums (personally, Baroness ain't got shit on them, and I mostly like Baroness), Red Fang is quite similar to the SNIVLEM, not nearly as good, but definitely in a similar vein and Mish may be the best mostly unknown Aussie band going
aren't you so glad I get how this works get how this works

^ Truth.
A bat shit ton of fantastic bands have formed over the last ten years.
Adding to the list:
Intronaut (Null came out in 92, so close enough)
The Ocean (formed in 2000, again, close enough)
Isis (first EP, Mosquito Control, came out in 98, followed by The Red Sea, Celestial and SGNL>5. Oceanic came out in 2002 and that album is the one that put them on the map. The height, or peek if you prefer, of their career came over the last 10 years)
Russian Circles
Red Sparowes
Rosetta
Rumour Cubes
This Will Destroy You
Mouth of the Architect
Mountains
Kongh
Latitudes
Kadavar
Conan
Callisto
Beastwars
Inter Arma
Pallbearer
Anciients
Scale the Summit
Crippled Black Phoenix
Gojira (stretching a bit past 10 years but their career has taken off in the last 10 years)
Mastodon
Old Man Gloom (another slight stretch, but basically came to prominence over the last 10 years)
Pelican
Tombs
Ahab
Sunn O))) (first album was released in 2000, close enough)
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats
Caspian
The Calm Blue Sea
Collapse Under the Empire
Year of No Light
@Crow - How could you forget YOB? Formed more than 10 years ago but all their actual albums have been within the last 10 years). You also forgot Om!
In the last 10 years bands like Meshuggah and Opeth have come to prominence. Both of them have been around for much longer, but for both it has been in the last 10 years that they have peeked in terms of popularity and exposure.  And you have bands like Neurosis and The Swans still going strong releasing good music.
I could keep going. The last 10 years have been the best in rock/metal in my opinion. In terms of popular music, however, the last 10 years has been a joke. But as digital release has gained prominence it has given the opportunity for so many smaller bands and labels to gain an audience. Incredible amount of good music being made, you just have to spend the time digging around for it.

Grails, too, don't forget them... they were around under a different name with different members beforehand, but didn't officially release anything as Grails until 2003... if I'm not mistaken, one of the guys is also in Om now.
Yeah, Emil.
