Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
I am calling Friday.
Kind of a shame what has happened with Listeners Club. All of you fucks need to go review Tyson's pick. Just because your favorite band has become a lazy bunch of cunts doesn't mean you should do the same.

I had just posted The Ocean's latest, Pelagial, but the youtube full album upload just fucking sucks and is missing parts. Album deserves a better presentation so I am going with something else.

THANK YOU ... bunch of pretentious prog-ish wank anyway ... they'd have a chance at being decent if they cut the length of every tune in half and then further cut out about half of their catalogMOG wrote:I had just posted The Ocean's latest, Pelagial, but the youtube full album upload just fucking sucks and is missing parts. Fuck off with that bullshit. The Ocean make incredible albums. There is no "prog wankery". No out of place guitar or drum solos. Everything fits in place to move each piece along. God forbid they actually create real "albums" that are thematically engaging. Precambrian tackles a massive chunk of earth history, Heliocentric and Anthropocentric analyze the negative role Christianity has played on humanity, Pelagic is designed to musically travel through all the Pelagic zones in the Ocean top down. The compositions are complex without being pretentious and heavy as fuck when called for. You are so fucking off with your analysis of this band that it is borderline comical.petemasterpete wrote:lack of attention span has nothing to do with not polluting my ears with this dog shit

comical is your defense of an opinion you seem to hold dear ... they're just not that good, mostly just 'meh'MOG wrote:Fuck off with that bullshit. The Ocean make incredible albums. Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
I was thinking about the Listeners Club on the drive home from a meeting tonight, and I considered a few options to try and invigorate the process.
My proposal:
Thoughts? If we're in agreeance, I will post a classic album this Wednesday.
My proposal:
- We have to albums of the week, one released on a Sunday, and the other on a Wednesday
- One album follows the current format which is to pick an album that not many have been exposed to
- The alternate album would be called the "Classic Album of the Week" and can and should be something that most of us have listened to (for example Nirvana's In Utero which has recently been reissued)
Thoughts? If we're in agreeance, I will post a classic album this Wednesday.
Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
^ Good idea.
As for Listeners Club in general, people need to get their shit together. Base has posted an interesting album and it has three reviews total. If members are not going to actively review and discuss then they shouldn't be able to post an album when their turn comes around.

Re: Fourtheye Listeners Club
yeah, cause I also presume that no one has any sort of life, responsibility or aspirations outside of Album of the Week... if people don't care to listen to or review upon listening who gives a shit ... keep posting music for whichever people choose to discover it ... I do eventually get around to all of them at some point between work, matchbox cars, football, braiding hair, live gigs, mazes, romance, skype calls, food, walks in the park, coffee, kite flying, beer, dinosaurs, reading, basketball, tram rides, etc ...MOG wrote:^ Good idea.

also, somethings aren't worth leaving notes on ... you know, the whole nothing nice to say bit

I tend to take that attidute a bit - if I don't like it I'd rather say nothing. Perhaps this is the wrong attitude in a review thread - all opinions are valid.petemasterpete wrote:MOG wrote:^ Good idea.

^I've got no problem with any of what Pete wrote, except for your last sentence.
A bad review is better than no review. We are critiquing the artist, not the poster.

And of course, I concur.
Back on topic: my personal problem with the AOTW reviews is I insist on hearing the whole thing before leaving a review, and something ALWAYS gets in the way. I have at least started listening to every submission, fully intending to follow up, but sometimes failing. Tsk tsk, I know.
I like HBs idea, but I can't promise I'll get through every minute before I review. Sounds like that's the norm... so be it.

The good thing about the Classic concept is that hopefully most weeks many won't need to listen to the album, as it's likely that many of us would already be familiar with it.Kittaan wrote: I like HBs idea, but I can't promise I'll get through every minute before I review. I shall post the first Classic album tomorrow.
