What are you watching? Film/TV
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
It is for me. Completely different from Curb, but every bit as "I just can't believe this is going to happen" train-wreck situations.
It's like Seinfeld on 8 balls and sleep deprivation. Every wrong decision imaginable made by some of the worst people on the planet. And yet somehow they are still lovable in a bizarre way. Brilliant.

Yeah I love chandlers sarcasm so much, my brother has been acting exactly like chandler lately.
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Mac's argument against evolution a couple of seasons ago was so moronically brilliant.
"I'm dug in. I'm not gonna change my mind regardless of the facts placed in front of me. Because I don't have to, because I'm an American. Rock, flag, and eagle, right Charlie?!"
Charlie: "He's got a point"

Nothing of 'Sunny' is cringe humour thoughKittaan wrote:It is for me. Completely different from Curb, but every bit as "I just can't believe this is going to happen" train-wreck situations.

It's the definition of cringe.
Obviously this a semantics thing. So I gave you my thoughts on why I see it that way Tyson, can you do the same for why you disagree?
What do the rest of you sad fucks think? Can you watch Sunny without cringing?

Curb- Cringe
Sunny- That was fucked up
While there have been a few cringe worthy moments in Sunny, it's not at Curb's level.

I cannot stand Sunny. I've tried to get into it 5 different times, won't take. It's too forced.
edit: Also, I love Curb. One of my all-time favorite series.

The gangs antics are over the top, not cringe worthy.Kittaan wrote:It's the definition of cringe.

When Frank is on crack, hookers, blow, and bad ideas he thinks will work, THEN it's cringy...

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
I don't think Sunny really qualifies as "cringe" comedy. Curb, very much so. The UK Office is possibly the king of that particular niche.
Sunny feels more like "bro, that's SO fucked up! Lol" in a forced way (if you ask me). It's more over the top wrongness, which I think is very different from "cringe worthy."

OK, I hear ya. I'll just have to disascree.
I have yet to check out Peep Show.
@ Joey, yes, UK Office is right there. Way too short a run. Same for Extras. Both great. Ricky is king.

If "SUNNY" were cringe humour, I wouldn't watch it.
Ergo, not cringe humour.

O love will you read the letters I will send to you.
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Kittaan must find Sunny cringe worthy because he sees a lot of himself in Frank.
I wanna see a lot of myself in the waitress, personally.

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Strangely, the Wikipedia entry has this show, "LOUIE" and "MR BEAN" as examples of "cringe humour".
Proving once again that you can pretty much write whatever you want on a Wikipedia page.

Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
I can see Louie in there, but barely. It's certainly not the show's aim, which is kind of how I'd clarify it.
Re: What are you watching? Film/TV
Louie is the king of going from "that's HILARIOUS!" to "shit that's depressing" in no time at all.
That episode with Doug Stanhope is a great example of this.

Agreed. That is accurate, especially the parts that I can completely relate too... perhaps I've said too much.Ravenpig wrote:Louie is the king of going from "that's HILARIOUS!" to "shit that's depressing" in no time at all.
