Heard 3 new (to me) albums today:
Crippled Black Phoenix: A Love of Shared Disasters 7/10 (on Tyson's, I'm assuming serious, suggestion in another thread)
Pretty good but it sounds like a soundtrack to a movie. I could listen to it every once in a while.
At the Gates: Terminal Spirit Disease  2/10
Didn't like it at all, nowhere near Slaughter of the Soul's league. This one actually got pretty annoying.
How to Destroy Angels: Welcome Oblivion  7/10
I don't know what it is about this group, but it seems like they're SO close to being really good, but it's missing something. I do really like some of the songs (Ice Age, How Long?) and I don't think a single one "sucks", but there's nothing outstanding here. And this is coming from a huge NIN fan.

That's pretty much how I feel about How to Destroy Angels. Not bad, but not all that compelling either.

Not bad. So far if I had to give it a brief description, I would say it's Justin's Puscifer. In a good way.Â
Also I really don't mind the vocals as much as I thought I would. They're not bad.
i"VE NOT MINDED THE VOCALS YET. Â iT KIND OF REMINDS ME OF DAVE MUSTAINE TRYING TO DO A JIM MORRISON IMPRESSIONÂ

When I first heard the vocals on the samples out there, I didn't really care for them. But listening to the album now, I've had no problems with the vocals.
