I'm actually jealous of BKGG signed lateralus vinylS <-- emphasis on the the plural, what an awesome framed piece that is! (at least I think it is her, trying to remember from when 4E had the poster pic thread).

Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
I have quite a few signed items, but sadly, one of them is NOT Lateralus. I have a friend that has two sets and framed them all together. That might be what you are remembering.

Doodled Opiate's being sold for $1200 at the show for those that haven't had every single dollar squeezed out of them yet....

Not being negative, but can anyone tell me why they are so much more expensive than when they were first released? I assume these are left-overs that they didn't end up selling.hellboy wrote:

That just seems to be a massive amount of money.

Crow, are you bi-polar? Maybe just smoking a nice relaxing indica today?

I just expected a more blunt response. Pun. It's ridiculously expensive for those retarded fish doodles.

It's also disingenuous to say only 1000 were made.

Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
I'm not sure he strong the ethics are of members here, but if you pick up one of these, you could easily sell it for $2,000 in a year or so. Maybe even six months.
You know someone will buy it for that price.
EDIT: For perspective, US$800 is enough for an international flight and mid-range accommodation somewhere for under a week at the right time of the year.
All you have to do is exploit the already exploited.
Something to think about.

I can't fault them for a brilliant business model. You like fish dicks? I'd like to hear Adam's response to the fish. Good VIP question. It seems to me that it's directed towards the fan base.

Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
Yeah, pretty over priced - I extremely doubt you'd get that much on Ebay if you put it on there tomorrow. If you're playing the (hopefully) long game and waiting for the band to break up, then maybe you'd see a return on your investment. It's important to consider that some don't see it as an investment though, to some it's much more than the sum of its parts. The Boss wrote:

In my subjective opinion, in no way is it worth $1200. For that kind of money I'd expect something much more personal, not just something left over from the merch warehouse.

Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
I could see Lateralus vinyl going for that price on ebay. That's with the Adam doodles. I can't even see a resell on ebay for this opiate limited/signed/doodled for that much.

Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
I just realised the original was $150. For some reason I thought it was $500.
That is completely insane.
Apparently it was $2,000 in SF. The night before: $2,500.
I got that info from the post on Facebook badkitty just put up, so it might not be completely true.

It always surprises me when I read that some signed items at Tool shows change in value from night to night. I just can't imagine why this should happen for what I'm assuming are identical items. The Boss wrote: Apparently it was $2,000 in SF. The night before: $2,500.

And what happens if they're selling? Do they INCREASE the prices for the next show?hellboy wrote:It always surprises me when I read that some signed items at Tool shows change in value from night to night. I don't expect them to work for free, but daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. They seem a little too interested in the money, if you know what I mean.

Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, and presume it's not all about the money, but these kind of things aren't a good look in my opinion. The Boss wrote:

For what it's worth, there didn't seem to be any price fluctuations during the Australian tour. Unless there's photographic evidence that these price changes are occuring, I'm not so inclined to believe it.
Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
They fluctuate the price up and down to what will sell.. for the maximum dollar. If if won't sell one night for $X.. mark it slightly lower the next night.. if something is selling well (posters).. gradually mark them up..again maximum $$. I find it funny..before the "posters" would be numbered and limited to a relatively low quantity (which is EXACTLY what made it cool having one of the 200-300 posters that were printed..this is what got the "poster ball" rolling and set the stage for these prices) .. this created demand with low supply.. now..its charge more than those limited posters were for ones that are not limited..or at least are at a much higher quantity. And in my opinion.. a much less of a poster.. the repetitive fish thing.. now the same skulls.. with the same generic logo.. before the posters were pretty unique to each show.. now.. hardly (besides maybe some color variation and date).hellboy wrote:It always surprises me when I read that some signed items at Tool shows change in value from night to night. The entire thing is getting progressively worse on every level.. I'm watching EBay and predict a ton of posters that people won't be able to "flip" (or at least not for the prices we have seen in the past) like before because they have saturated the "market" so to speak.

Yes to both of those things. In Reno 2012, the first show of the tour, posters were $20. They increased in price gradually throughout the rest of the tour, presumably due to high demand. If people are willing to pay $50 for a poster, why would they only charge $20?The Boss wrote:And what happens if they're selling? Re: General Tour Discussion Thread
Is this isolated to this band? Does anyone have anecdotal evidence of any other band doing this?
I seem to remember that prices tend to go down toward the end of the tour for certain bands and their merchandise.
