Just listened to Run The Jewels. It's pretty good actually, not top 10 worthy I don't think, but a solid album that's probably one of the best hip hop releases of recent note.

I'd be pleasantly shocked if it made Top 10 on this site.

If the current voting is anything to go by (about 90 entries so far) you won't be shocked...

I can definitely respect that there were 367 unique albums submitted last year. How many of those were metal or some sub-genre related to metal? From the looks of what I have seen, it looks to be the case this year. Maybe it just hasn't been a great year for new music. I can sort of agree with that. I just hope the top 10 has an eclectic mix of music, as Tool fans are an eclectic mix of people.

I wonder if the same person who put that KoRn album on their list is also the same person who put Trivium on their list. I'm guessing not.

I wonder how much overlap there is between the fans of those two bands...

Only one person voted for Korn, and they did indeed also vote for Trivium (who got 2 votes). Both of those lists have some quite questionable selections.

Wow! Some really, really good stuff coming from these guys!! Love the ebb and flow of the slow build up drawing you in then just an explosion of acoustic heaven drenching you from head to toe in glorious heavy psychedelic stoner riffs. Give yourself a late Christmas present and listen to the entire 29 minutes of this killer EP.
Have any of you Aussies heard of them? I can't find any info on them other than their Bandcamp page.

I have listened to most all of the suggestions in this thread. Thanks to everyone for their picks, there is a lot of good music in here.
Hellboy, I think we should get 12 picks since there is always a tie and you pick 12 anyway!

I'll be making my choices in the next day or two. Any last minute dark horses?

Need to set the cut off somewhere - it may as well be 10! I haven't analysed the results much so far, but the ones you'd expect to be near the top (Mastodon, Aphex Twin, Opeth, Pink Floyd). I'd say Old Man Gloom is probably the darkest horse at the moment.
