The beauty lies in its adroit sensibilities and offbeat subtlety. What I admire about the piece as a stand alone concept is that it contemplates and even celebrates the banality in the outre lifestyle of the oddball.

A very similar phrase "said the actress to the bishop" which would be used in the same context has been around since the early 1900s.
