Asteroids do not concern me, Admiral. I want that ship, not excuses.
Re: Video game news
The song list looks pretty good so far actually. I doubt I'd actually buy the game though.

Yep, E3 is around the corner, so hopefully we'll get some good Fallout news with it!

I'd love it if they just announced like a remaster of the original games or something. I would just die in fact.

Re: Video game news
Trailer due in about 25 minutes from now (I'm not staying up to watch it - will do so in the morning).
Bethesda has officially revealed Fallout 4 , the latest edition in the open-world RPG series, set to ship on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
The game's official website, which went live slightly ahead of schedule, shows box art for the title, and also confirms that the game is current-gen only, and will not be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Although it also features a video, which is presumably the cinematic trailer, this is not available to watch yet. The video is scheduled to go live 7 AM PT (3 PM UK time).

I managed to watch the trailer, but late at night on my tablet with the sound down. It looked pretty good, but the dog animation looked a bit crude. What I took from the trailer is that you are a dog. That would be good.

I'm kinda disappointed it's Bethesda and not Obsidian. Hopefully they took some cues from New Vegas.

Well, it was never going to be Obsidian, so you probably shouldn't have got your hopes up.UndKeineZwEier wrote:I'm kinda disappointed it's Bethesda and not Obsidian. Hopefully they took some cues from New Vegas.

Oh, I didn't get my hopes up. I just had never really thought about it.

Re: Video game news
Things I've noted so far, some from dubious sources:
- Seems to be set in Boston. I hope it's not full of annoying accents
- Allegedly the map is much bigger than New Vegas and Skyrim. Bigger is nice I guess, but what I'd like to see is it feeling a little more realistic - ie no huge casinos with no one in them.
- Obviously a dog plays a large part in the story. I like dogs in games, so hopefully they do a good job with this. I thought the graphics on said dog were a bit wonky in the trailer
- Allegedly set 30 years after Fallout 3.
- This somewhat makes sense since the world seems a little brighter (less nuclear winter I suppose)
- In general it seems to be a broader colour palette than 3 and NV. This is good overall I think, though a few of the screen shots like a bit like Sunset Overdrive
- Release date appears to be sometime in later 2015. I read October being mentioned. The game is already for pre-sale on Steam ($80 Aussie dollars - looks like I'll be getting my US buddy to gift me this so I can avoid Aussie tax)

Re: Video game news
Yeah, I heard late October / early November.
Seems realistic.
Supposedly this "world" is a little more populated than the one we saw in Fallout 3. And also heard that the Fallout 4 map is much bigger than 3.
I believe there's not going to be any Super Mutant things this time round.

Re: Video game news
I remember in Oblivion when they had the big final battle with all the soldiers you had to literally go through hell to recruit and it was just like 8 dudes.

Re: Video game news
Yeah, the Hoover Dam fight in F:NV felt kinda similar. I know there are some significant technical hurdles to large scale battles, but it'd be nice to feel a part of one.UndKeineZwEier wrote:I remember in Oblivion when they had the big final battle with all the soldiers you had to literally go through hell to recruit and it was just like 8 dudes.

Re: Video game news
I hope that at the very least Fallout 4 has more quests than Fallout 3. Replaying Fallout 3 last year made me realize that game does not have as many quests as it should.

Re: Video game news
Bethesda seem to iterate between Elder Scrolls and Fallout these days, taking element from each into the next in the series. I expect Fallout 4 will be at least as "dense" as Skyrim was.
