Random Tool Social Media thread
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
So a little further investigation shows that the new Toolarmy is based on the Fullscreen Direct framework. Feature wise it appears to be somewhat similar to a social network specifically tailored for fans of bands who sign up. Whether it works well as a replacement for Toolarmy (or other sites such as Fourtheye and Toolnavy) remains to be seen.

Fullscreen? Gross. Everybody knows it's wide-screen or bust.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
There's also some speculation based on this Instagram pic that Adam & Korin are expecting another baby:
You know, it doesn't seem overly obvious that it's a baby photo, so not sure what to make of it personally. But I guess I'll go with the flow for now.

I have confirmed TA v2.0 The rise of the digital corpse is a go! We are getting our TA back! Or at least an updated version of our dysfunctional family. This leads me to believe a new album is right around the corner!

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I know, I know. I'm just as jaded as everyone else, but I am also Pavlov's dog when it comes to this band, and the new store platform plus a revived TA has me optimistic.
I've said for years they would not revive TA unless there was a new album on the way. What if Adam's vague sonogram post was a hint? The sonogram for a new album perhaps? What if this mini tour is really a warm up tour like they have done for Lateralus and 10K Days. Didn't 10K Days premiere at Coachella?

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Yeah, but we knew they'd recorded an album the previous year, and it was already scheduled for release a week or so after that Coachella show.badkittygothgirl wrote:Didn't 10K Days premiere at Coachella?
An album recorded in relative secrecy isn't impossible, but...
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Pretty sure the sonogram photo is just that.... a sonogram photo of a new baby. Not a hint of an album. That literally doesnt make sense. Adam and Korin are having another baby. Dont overthink it
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I'd love if that were the case. I don't actually think they've done the album and are ready to release it though, and I feel like it's likely they'd go with the usual approach of sharing studio updates, etc.
But... some aspects definitely lend credence to them doing the "surprise" release (and god, I fucking hope they do end up doing that).
For starters, that's a very effective move in the current musical landscape. Beyonce and Radiohead and others have had really strong success with dropping an album unexpectedly. Hype works differently nowadays. I don't follow Beyonce so much, so I don't know how much it was hinted at that she was working on a new album. From my perspective, Lemonade just came out of nowhere within a matter of weeks. Radiohead hinted for more than a year they had been working, yet managed to still release Moon Shaped Pool unexpectedly.
Tool has been working on this album forever, obviously. That brings a certain inescapable amount of hype, at least among the core fanbase. Doing a "surprise, here it is" release would REALLY go a long way to offsetting some of that hype and the weight that comes with it. If you couple the length of the wait with a traditional drawn out "ok we're in the studio... ok now we're mastering... ok album comes out on this day in three months..." that's only going to make the hype and expectations worse. It would be a good move to avoid that and just spring the whole thing on everyone. Not to mention the wave of attention this garners in the press today.
I really hope that's what they do. However, I highly doubt it.

Also, recall that the Opiate video was obviously supposed to be a surprise and look how that turned out...

There is a baby in Tool's oven. All we can do is speculate......and laugh.

I just can't fucking wait until some lurking... Tool... takes these speculations and writes an "article" on one of the click-bait sites stating them as fact. You know it's going to happen.
And yeah, I'm just as jaded as anyone who's been strung along for years by this fucking band. And yet, I'll be as excited as a little girl when something is actually birthed. Just like Mog.

It's clearly a reference to their Smoke On The Water sequel.

Is it just me or does the "sonogram" seem a little fake? A little doctored? Not that I'm an expert on sonograms....but if you compare this to the one on Adam's Instagram...
What's with all the lines in the one Adam posted??

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
It's no real mystery. Adam was just doing some celebratory lines before he posted the pics. You see this a lot when you've been in the sonogram business for over 10 years like me.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I don't think anyone is suggesting it's an unedited sonogram. There are parts of it that resemble a sonogram, but it doesn't appear to be conclusively such a thing.
I'm leaning towards it being a sonogram personally, though Adam has posted plenty of "art" on his Instagram feed in the past - maybe this is just another example.
If they are expecting, then the obvious question is how will this effect the new album. Assuming it's the end of the first trimester, that puts the due date sometime in December. Are we expecting Tool to record by years end? I'd hope so, even though there's no concrete reason to believe they will. If they don't record before the baby is due, are we looking at another 6 months before something happens?
