To be honest I enjoy your optimism. It is the kind of counter balance I find refreshing to my own pessimistic nature. And I am not trying to just rag on Maynard. I definitely feel like he has the right to take his time with this process as he has been waiting for so long. I just think it would go a long way to respond to one of these Tool related tweets, just once, in a semi positive light. But as you said, he is who he is, and the finish line is in sight. Happy times for all. Mostly I am just enjoying the conversation with my fellow music nerdsjoeypants wrote:You're not wrong.
I just know I deleted my own account because by the time I got to anything remotely positive or interesting, I'd had to wade through the most utterly detestable statements from every knuckle-dragger on the planner, seemingly.
But I am absolutely an optimist, haha. I just took the last Rogan appearance especially to be a sign that deep down, he has the utmost love and respect for the music and art Tool makes, it's the things surrounding it that wear his patience thin. And already at the best of times, he's a pretty salty, suffer-zero-bullshit kind of person.
But either way the fact holds true, we're nearing the finish line! This gives me great joy.

He’s actually responding though. I think that’s odd.
Well I did hear the one he did with Marc Marron where he spent like 75% of it talking about Tool.
I read somewhere that Rogan straight up asked him if he had to contain himself to one band which he would choose and he said Tool. Is that true? I don’t watch/listen/etc podcasts.joeypants wrote:You're not wrong.

Not sure if there's a seperate Rogan interview to that in depth one 6 months ago, but he sure didnt say anything like that in the one I saw. More went on about how tedious the songwriting process is for tool and he can't sit idle waiting as he works faster than them and needs to create so goes off to fulfil that elsewhere. Once they give him a finished product he'll set aside some time given where he's at and do his part then.

Lateralus release date: 15th of May 2001 (The album was recorded at Cello Studios in Hollywood and The Hook, Big Empty Space, and The Lodge, in North Hollywood, between October 2000 and January 2001)
Something to chew on.

Also both (arguably) the 'Magnum Opis' of each band.

- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.
- You don't like to think? What do you like?
- Never thought about it.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I wonder if the video was never really finished a couple years back as it was rumored to have been. I know it was shown (up to a point) at a few of the VIP events, but maybe that's been part of the delay. Anyone who attended one of the VIPs and saw the complete video, please feel free to correct me though.
I also figured the packaging or timing the video release to coincide with a new album was part of the wait.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
My guess is this will be part of Salival Mark 2 which they will release before the new album as a promotional thing.

^ that would be fantastic if that were the case but I imagine they would probably wait until their last record deal is complete to maximise profits.

I am very glad to hear they are working with someone other than Alex. Not that I don’t appreciate his art, just that it’s time for another approach / collaboration.

That video news is not really news at all. The Opiate video has been discussed at length and even screen at VIP sessions. Nice for Dominic to say he enjoyed working on it though - but Tool need to pull their finger out and release the bloody thing.

Ya know the gags getting old when Hboy starts talking like that. You're normally so diplomatic when it comes to tool related topics.

This is nonsense to you, but not to me. Moreover, many successfully bands have had members leave or been replaced. Maynard means very little to me when I think of Tool at this point. For me, Tool has always been about the music. Maynard is talented, although I feel like his contribution dropped off on 10,000 Days (Wings aside). The lyrics for Right in Two, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, meh...the music...incredible...brewdog123 wrote:this is nonsense. tool is MJK, Adam, Danny, and Justin. Sadly you are right. If this APC shit wasn't happening they would be in the studio now. Honestly I would love an instrumental only Tool album. I have said it for years. Not gonna happen of course.
I can easily picture a TOOL without Maynard. I can easily picture TOOL doing an instrumental album and would welcome it. Realistically though, it isn't going to happen.
@Cal - Cheer up, the album is there, we just have to wait out this Emotive 2 shit show. More waiting of course, but at least the music is actually done.
