The Opiate video reminds me of a cross between a massive attack & aphex twin video.

Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row) is the latest one to go hang around at the Loft:

And I’m guessing this was May Jay reacting to yet another rocker talking about Tool music..,though this is a positive one..

It looks like if anyone wants to hear new Tool music all they have to do join a band, become an actor or professional wrestler.

Wow, that was unexpected to hear Maynard be so direct, but nice to get a clear update.Ravenpig wrote:And I’m guessing this was May Jay reacting to yet another rocker talking about Tool music..,though this is a positive one..
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Finally something worth reading. I don't really mind how he's answer some of those dumb as shit questions he gets on Twitter, but it's nice for him to come out with a clear answer for a change.

"Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1"
Woah! Much further along that I'd thought. All good news.
*Holy Sheet! Adam is now saying (via Instagram) recording is going to start in April.
"Huge fun & honor performing all the new tunes for Guinea pigs Sebastian & #KingBuzz b4 the recording starts in April. Still instrumentals with Mjk in town working on killer lyrics. Exciting!"

- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.

If they're recording in April, then what makes you think you'll have to wait another year...?

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
The recording process for a Tool album takes roughly six months if I remember correctly.

Yes, you are correct. So could we expect the release of the new album this fall, what do you think?UndKeineZwEier wrote:The recording process for a Tool album takes roughly six months if I remember correctly.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
That is the best set of updates of all so far. Finally some genuine positivity from MJK and a nice little extra from Adam. Now I am starting to get stoked... Time for a beer...
Be good to each other.

Sounding likely for a april / May 2019 release which is fine by me. Just fucking stoked to have some concrete info.

Like I already said, this will basically mirror the Mer De Noms / Lateralus release dates

' No song was shorter than 7 minutes and some were 20 minutes long! '
So double album or two twenty minute songs followed by 3 seven minute plus songs, cutting it close plus no segways.
Or Sebastian Bach hasn't had a real concept of time since 1989.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Probably not. The end of the year isn't really a good time to release non-Holiday related music. So the latest I could see is mid-November otherwise they're probably going to hold off until probably late January/early February.ziggy23 wrote:Yes, you are correct. The recording process would have to go pretty quickly for it to come out in November though. The label's going to need some time for marketing and promotion plus artwork and packaging. So I'd say there's probably going to be at least 3 months between the time's the album's finished (including mastering which I'm not sure is included in the 6 months recording) and the time it's released.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I'm taking the use of the word 'some' very loosely here. Id be surprised if Sebastian isn't just a bit shit with his words and meant to say one song instead. Happy to be proven wrong but 2 songs over 20 minutes id be pretty surprised.tys0n wrote:' No song was shorter than 7 minutes and some were 20 minutes long! '

Very encouraging news.
Have you guys heard the leak of the instrumentals from thepiratebay? Surprised nobody’s mentioned it. Kinda meh surprisingly. I was confused by the inclusion of flugelhorn, but it works pretty well.
I’m guessing 1st quarter 2019.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
For 10,000 Days they were in studio "recording" for a few weeks. But if you're referring to the entire process (recording, mixing, mastering, etc.) then yes, about six months time.UndKeineZwEier wrote:The recording process for a Tool album takes roughly six months if I remember correctly.
The August 2005 Newsletter was the first indication that they were recording 10,000 Days, followed by a bit more information in the September 2005 Newsletter.
It was the February 2006 Newsletter when Blair confirmed the album had been completed:
"It was around 10:45 PM on a chilly January 29th when Salma finally stopped dancing."
"Earlier in the day, the members of the band had invited a few of their closest friends to the studio to celebrate their finishing the mixing of their new record."
"The guys were scheduled to fly to Portland, Maine early in morning to have the record mastered by Bob Ludwig..."
So, if the recording actually starts this April, the album could be completed before the end of the year. But I'd still be surprised if it's actually released in 2018 as there was a 3 month gap between the completion of 10,000 Days and its release date.
Spring 2019 (Northern hemisphere) my friends.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Maynard is childish with his Twitter responses to the point of being ridiculous. This social media banter shit has gotta stop they have a fucking website use it and get to work. Until they actually post something on toolband i am not gonna take anything seriously. 50 year olds acting like a bunch of teenagers

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I have been consistent in my criticism of Maynard and the Tool fellas as to how they have been handling this shit spatting over social media. It's absurd. USE YOUR WEBSITE. When Blair posts on toolband.com that they are actually recording i will pay attention. Until then it's TalkTalkTalkRavenpig wrote:He finally posts an actual update and you still complain.
