Try as I might, I just feel no enthusiasm for APC at the moment. Hopefully the shows spark something for me.

Their last tour really hurt any excitement I had for their future work. It just feels like a project that's run its course.

I am kind of mixed on this one. I did enjoy By and Down quite a bit so I know Billy still has that song writing ability but it would be a shame if this holds up anything on the Tool front. That said nobody could blame Maynard on that one I suspect in his mind he would have already been done with this Tool album cycle years ago and I would imagine has wanted to reconnect with Billy on some material for awhile.

Hopefully everything turns out well on all fronts.

Whether it holds up Tool or not doesn't bother me too much. Sure I'm down with getting new Tool asap, but there's no rush for me at this stage.

My concerns are mostly that the last few tours and releases by APC have all been pretty mediocre. By and Down I thought was pretty forgettable, and the less said about eMotive the better. Ashes Divide was mediocre at best. Recent tours have what were some poor setlist choices in my opinion, and the fact the band is now really just Ashes Divide + Maynard doesn't sit with me greatly (I hate to harp on it, and Jeff is a good drummer but the band has been on a steady decline since Freese left).

I hope there are a few surprises this time around, and that this tour isn't just "more of the same".

And it's not just Billy. The BMG press release states that they're in the studio working on a new album.

After reading this, I think Maynard's comments were geared toward the "official announcement"-type headlines....they definitely are working on an album, but this article should give a clearer picture of where it's at, straight from the source.
