I just finished up watching season 1. I sure hope that there will be a proper ending for the show.
Welp, time to start wstching season 2. I'm really into Hannibal atm. What a great show!

There's a good chance it'll be saved by like Amazon, or Netflix.
It's a supposedly a pretty cheap show, and it has bunch of international deals in place too that lower the cost of the show for an individual network to produce. It's the main reason the show got three seasons on NBC while also being one of the lowest rated shows on the network.

Can't argue with low ratings, hard to blame NBC for taking that stand. I suspect the reality is that the show is heavily pirated, and that something like netflix is more likely to be used by it's core audience.
I hope it gets picked up elsewhere.

Rumors suggest that it might not have been the low ratings that led to its cancellation, but licensing issues. The next season was supposed to introduce Clarice Starling, which is a problem because the show doesn't have the rights to anything from Silence of the Lambs and it would probably be expensive to get them.

That seems like a strange reason for cancellation.

It's a rumor.

Seems like a strange rumour for a cancellation. I expect the simplest explanation (low ratings) is the most likely one.

Yea they could just re-name the character to avoid that issue.
Gotta be low ratings.

Knowing NBC I imagine the actual reasoning was more like:
"Well, we got Heroes Reborn premiering soon, we can't have two critical darlings on this network. Fuck it, let's get rid of Hannibal."

Does this mean S3 won't air? That sucks.

After sitting through another tedious episode in season 3, it occurs to me that NBC might know what we don't - Season 3 doesn't get any better...

Season 3 seems like it might be better suited for binge watching. It seems like they're aiming for this season to be like a 12 part movie and that might play better when you're able to watch each episode back to back.
1. That a Netflix deal is unlikely as the show already has a contract with Amazon that mostly precludes the possibility of them working with Netflix.
2. NBC's cancellation has screwed up some of the international deals that have made the show viable for the past three seasons.
There's also this:
The exec producer also pointed out that outside interest may feel like “Hannibal” is “someone else’s,” thus he would rather pursue original programming than continue with an established series.
But I'm not entirely sure what that means.

Here's a good article outlining the various international deals Hannibal has and how they effect Hannibal's chances of being picked up by another channel or service.
