I heard a baseball announcer say the name
"Lonnie Chisenhall."
I thought he said' Mama JismHole.'
Anyway...
That got me thinking...
yada yada yada...
we need an 'Audio' thread to compliment the 'Visual,' and 'Tech.'
In regards to sound, whether it's a concert, a sound effect, a fart, a vocal performance, or this guy
Let it rip.

Anything sound related.
Without getting too basic, what are some of your favorite sounds?
Sounds you hate? Â Sounds you remember?
What's the best guitar 'sound' you've ever heard, whether you mean an overall sound to a guitarists playing or perhaps a one-time sound they made?
Eric Clapton, for example, has made some of the most unique sounds with his Strat that I've ever heard anyone make. Â I'm not on the Clapton is God bandwagon by any means but the little fucker can make some incredible sounds with that thing.

Many times I stop to listen to my dog, the most awesome creature ever created in the entire history of the fucking universe, eat.
I like that sound.Â

I love to make the jowely/salivaey-like sound of smacking my mouth parts together like I'm really enjoying my meal while being completely un-gentile (let alone professional) any chance I feel I can get away with it.

What's the best guitar 'sound' you've ever hear
not sure what my absolute fave is, ever, but upon reading this, I immediately heard the "chugga-crunch" riff leading into the chorus on 'Creep'
I could go a mile long with a list like this, but I would even bore myself... Â So, off the top of my pointy head, here are a few guitarists with a unique sound that I dig (not just some of my favorite players):
Jimi - Â of course, and without a doubt.
Eric Johnson - his tone is legendary and so is his obsession with it.
Guthrie Govan - Love what he does with technology without it getting in the way of his playing.
David Fiuczynski - One of the most unique I've heard - double neck player / one fretless neck.
Frank Zappa - Instantly identifiable and twisted
Allan Holdsworth -Â Â Instantly identifiable and technically gifted - incredibly complex rig
Robert Fripp - See BOTH of the above 2
David Gilmour - Iconic, classic lead tone
Adrian Belew - Chameleon
Etc, etc...

SRV > Jimi
First of all. Â For you, sure, how can I argue with your opinion? Â It's totally subjective, and we've been through this before.
Some reasons why I don't agree with you: Â
While I love SRV, IMO, and based on his own comments and his many Hendrix covers, he was derivative of / emulated Jimi. Â
Stevie had Jimi as a model, AND greatly advanced instrument and audio effects technology available to him.  Including effects that were designed based on Jimi's sound.
Jimi not only innovated his own style, which was utterly unique, but did it with mostly his hands.
Jimi is likely the most emulated electric guitarist in history, in terms of both his sound and his technique.

Justin Chancellor's bass tone is amazing, especially live. Also dig the shit out of Cliff Burton's in the intro to Orion & Marcus Millers crisp tone.
The steel being banged together in the Terminator theme song suits the song & mood perfectly.
Bagpipes stirs my cockles.
'The last post' which gets played on the Bugle at a dawn service on Anzac Day is one of the most powerful experiences & pieces of music I've ever heard.
Witnessing Lateralus live probably comes in 2nd.
Star Wars, Indiana Jones & Superman theme songs make me feel nostalgic.Â
And for some reason nothing makes me feel more at home in Australia than the sound of this:
