I could go a mile long with a list like this, but I would even bore myself... Â So, off the top of my pointy head, here are a few guitarists with a unique sound that I dig (not just some of my favorite players):
Jimi - Â of course, and without a doubt.
Eric Johnson - his tone is legendary and so is his obsession with it.
Guthrie Govan - Love what he does with technology without it getting in the way of his playing.
David Fiuczynski - One of the most unique I've heard - double neck player / one fretless neck.
Frank Zappa - Instantly identifiable and twisted
Allan Holdsworth -Â Â Instantly identifiable and technically gifted - incredibly complex rig
Robert Fripp - See BOTH of the above 2
David Gilmour - Iconic, classic lead tone
Adrian Belew - Chameleon
Etc, etc...

While I love SRV, IMO, and based on his own comments and his many Hendrix covers, he was derivative of / emulated Jimi. Â
Stevie had Jimi as a model, AND greatly advanced instrument and audio effects technology available to him.  Including effects that were designed based on Jimi's sound.
Jimi not only innovated his own style, which was utterly unique, but did it with mostly his hands.
Jimi is likely the most emulated electric guitarist in history, in terms of both his sound and his technique.

Justin Chancellor's bass tone is amazing, especially live. Also dig the shit out of Cliff Burton's in the intro to Orion & Marcus Millers crisp tone.
The steel being banged together in the Terminator theme song suits the song & mood perfectly.

'The last post' which gets played on the Bugle at a dawn service on Anzac Day is one of the most powerful experiences & pieces of music I've ever heard.
Witnessing Lateralus live probably comes in 2nd.
