Comic books and graphic novels . . .
Didn't I already make a thread for this? I couldn't find it, guys, so merge as you see fit if you find it.

Just got that link from a fellow comic book enthusiast. Vaughn isn't bad - he did "Y: THE LAST MAN" and some other stuff. This looks pretty good.
If you've been shying away from comic books because they're for nerds or some other ridiculous reason, try the "PARKER" series. Hard-boiled criminal stuff set in the '60s. Based on the novels. Great, hard stuff.
I went through my digital collection the other day, and I think it'd be safe to say I'm the real deal when it comes to comic books. I don't do superheroes (besides BATMAN *swoon*), and I don't do cheesy shit.
Ask me anything. The guy that linked me the above got me into some pretty arty and underground stuff, so I'd like to think I know my shit.

Our local library actually has a really good collection of graphic novels. I need to start checking more out. Aside from The Watchmen and the Dark Knight I've read very few.

Yes I should, I've seen the movie though. Not Tyson wrote:You should really read From Hell.

Well, I'm sure they share a few similarities, and the movie wasn't that bad I didn't think. Not Tyson wrote:Nothing like that shitty movie.

No, they're literally nothing alike.
As a Freemason, it's almost criminal that you haven't read "FROM HELL".

Well, considering they both cover the same topic, I'd say they are "literally" alike. We'll see.The Boss wrote:No, they're literally nothing alike.

Very, very barely. Seriously, read it before making statements like that.

I love comic books but I'm totally a "superhero" guy. I'm afraid I got nothing to add to this thread then.

Would you like to try some different stuff?Ravenpig wrote:I love comic books but I'm totally a "superhero" guy. I'm afraid I got nothing to add to this thread then.
Superhero stuff is fine. I'd just like to raise awareness of one of my favourite mediums.

I have a copy of the original The Killing Joke
Can we talk about how awesome I am?

Re: Comic books and graphic novels . . .
I have read plenty of non superhero comics, many of which were really cool. The Grant Morrison written one with the mechanical dog and cat comes to mind. The few Sandman ones that I was able to read come to mind. There are others that my boozed up mind can't recall at the moment.
But nothing beats a good ol superhero comic for me.
Like when Superman beat Thor in a straight up fight, then got his ass beat by the other Avengers. In a JLA vs Avengers fight, Superman and Thor were the first two to fall! SO cool. And I am far from a Superman or Thor or JLA fan.
Or how about something like Ultimate X-men #41? Look it up, such a cool little fucked up story.
I don't read comics anywhere as much as I used to, but I'll always be a comic book geek. Obviously.

Already, I'd assume you'd love "FELL" and "30 DAYS OF NIGHT". Both done by my favourite artist, Ben Templesmith (Aussie!!!).
I have a Dropbox sharing thing going with my buddy (who, incidentally, wants to do another book together), so I'm happy to share my collection with other people.

I had the chance to buy on EBAY every single Judge Dredd for like $3000 or less on ebay, I wish I did.
I love Judge Dredd

Make a Dropbox account. Might be pretty big for the series (maybe 750meg?) but totes worth it.

"FELL" is by far the most compelling series I've read. And there's fucking nine issues or some shit!
