What's most ridiculous about all of this is talks of a lawsuit. Here is a portion of the article I just read: (Only in Murica).


With pricing for the event itself being pretty steep, not including travel to the Dominican Republic, The Law Office of Stas Rusek (out of Atlanta, GA) seems to be taking advantage and offering those who felt wronged by the band to form a class action lawsuit asking if you paid between $4,000-$10,000 for Tool In The Sand to contact them.

Rusek himself claims to not only be a huge Tool fan but someone who also attended the weekend event.

A lot of the complaining seems to hinge on people being promised "2 unique sets". My understanding is that the promoter tagged that onto the advertising without discussing it with the band, and once they found out about it had it removed from all promo materials. It was never contracted that way.
Everyone has a right to their opinion of what the band "should have done", but it shouldn't be based on "they promised _____", since they didn't.

On the flip side tool are about to play some of the biggest shows of their career and I bet the South American fans give zero shits about what occurred on some fancy beach resort.

Speaking of their largest shows, have you seen the Stadium they are playing tonight in Mexico City? It's called Estadio Azteca and it holds more than 100 thousand people. My guess is that since they don't play Mexico, this place will be at capacity.

It was big. Depending on how you look at it (festival or Tool show), it may have been their largest audience to date (discounting festivals, if this wasn't one), or at least in the running for largest.
It was billed as "Heaven and Hell Festival", so it might not count as their "own show", but it really was just a one day event with them and 2 other bands. I'd imagine The Cult drew a fair number of their own fans, and nothing against Seven Hours After Violet, but I'd imagine their added draw is similar to the normal Tool opening act.
The previous show in Monterrey, with the same lineup, was billed as "Tecate Metal Fest", or something like that. I'm not sure about Guadalajara.

I just found a video that somewhat represents how massive this show was. Just watch the 1st second of this video (before the person zooms in).



I love that there were bleachers set up on the sides. I prefer that because when you are on the floor, there will always be someone taller than you.

Certainly can't argue too much with that last setlist for a Lollapalooza show - stinkfist long, prarabola back into the mix, and jambi as an open I think really works for a festival set. Could have probably done with one track from either Opiate or Undertow (sweat or flood short) and it's almost perfect for a crowd that's been waiting so long for tool live. Nice work lads! Now, where is your AU/NZ tour announcement?

It was fine. The video footage is all from a distance, which is nice for seeing the visuals. No closeups of the band

The audio is probably the best part I think. It's not a bad set-list or performance. It's certainly a good video and show, I just don't see myself returning to it over and over.

Okay, I think I was able to find the video you are talking about. There was a stationary camera (no zooming or moving around). This also shows someone that I believe is doing sign language to the music. This person is just in front of the stage. I have never seen anyone doing sign language at a concert before. I can't post it, because (once again) this video has disappeared.

well, shit, say what you want about the heptagram not fitting in the overheads, but that was a pretty bad ass visual experience. lots of new stuff i haven't seen before, that's for sure.
